If NU wins--even if ugly and by 1 point--there will be an optimism and energy shared by the team and all the NU faithful that a loss to Michigan ( not an impossible scenario ) will not diminish.
If NU loses--even if due to bad bounces, egregious officiating, etc.--a "we've seen this before; here we go again" doubt may well creep into the psyche of the team. And it will certainly manifest in the fan base. Then, if a loss to UM follows, a win against either Iowa or Nebraska become imperative.
NU will go bowling this year, but tomorrow will go a long way to determining where. This is a game that the 'Cats can, and should, win.
