It was a long line. He thought he might be 21 when he got in.
It was reported that Perry had 13 receptions for 183 yards and a touchdown this season for Michigag. Flynn Nagel, who Fitz got to replace Perry when he de-committed from NU, had 37 catches for 421 yards and 2 TDs. AND zero arrests and he will play in our bowl game. Nagel also returned 19 punts for 132 yards including a 47 yarder. I'll take that.
Doesn't sound like the Grant Perry I read about when his HS coaches raved about his work ethic and his character. I hope he straightens himself out.
Harbaugh probably views this as a free scholarship.
When I read about Perry earlier tonight, this was literally the first thing I asked myself...nature vs. nurture?
Seriously, I'm sure he does. Perry had marginal numbers and can no doubt be replaced by one of the four or five star guys that Harbaugh is chasing.
I don't mean to minimize Perry's actions, but the "sexual assault" is really a fourth-degree misdemeanor of "criminal sexual contact". He probably grabbed some woman's butt while waiting in line for the club, then panicked and ran when the cops came at him (possibly because he was underage). Dumb decisions, yes, but doesn't seem to be in the same ballpark as the Minnesota gang rape or the multiple rapes at Baylor. The argument could be made here that a good kid made a dumb mistake, but that probably won't keep him from being tossed out of Michigan if Harbaugh thinks it can improve the football team.

Beetlemania, your comment reminded me of a conversation I recently had with a lady on a plane flight. Ex-CID for the Army. Headed up sexual assault cases at a base. Said that the Army was exceedingly strict because of history and bad press and instructed all recruits to report any incident even if incidental conduct. So, for example, if there was contact of a hand on a butt in a crowded bus, even if clearly accidental, it was reported. She said they were flooded with cases, many unnecessary. Sign of the times. No idea what happened with the Michigan player, however.

Even more interesting thinking about Jordan Thomas (OU DB) - as this goes both ways. Would he have been arrested and still playing in a bowl game (much less the season) for Fitz? No. But would he be a first-round draft pick playing for Fitz as he is for Stoops? That's the trade-off and the real question. .
These kids must just think they can get away with it, just like the Minnesota players also thought. BTW, how was the Cuba trip? Thinking of going this year.
Cuba was ridiculous - have been to a lot of places, and that was my favorite. Super safe, easy to get around, good walking. Just get there soon - getting more and more crowded.

I would recommend going sooner than later - airfare war making it very cheap, plus prices are still low (until the Americans start visiting).
