Interesting from Yahoo! When it comes down to it, experience seems to matter. Without looking, how many of the 20 starters do think are freshman? Follow the link to find out.... Yahoo!

Love it, hate the one-and-done phenomena. and hope it ends soon.
There is absolutely no reason that a kid can't go to work in the NBA after he finishes or doesn't finish high school. All it would take is a well put together law suit and a judge who favors fairness.

willy, I would agree, which is what happened to Lebron James. He's not very bright, and knows nothing about NCAA policies, let alone political issues, but he's made zillions of dollars. I have much less regard for the one and done people like Calipari and Mike K. It makes me very happy that both of those teams are gone from the tournament. It was particularly pleasing to see an a - hole like Grayson Allen bow out.

Uhm, what?

Is there something about my post which is confusing to you? If so, what, and I'll try to explain further. (Not trying to be a jerk.)
Your statement that Lebron James is not intelligent is inaccurate.

Your response will probably veer into Rant Board territory. I hope you quote Laura Ingraham!

I have no idea how you would even begin to think that LeBron James is "not bright". Anyone listening to him can tell that he's a smart, introspective dude.
Everyone's entitled to his or her opinion. I've expressed mine and you've expressed yours.

Yes.

That's not "explaining further".

LeBron James seems very intelligent to me. He may not have a college degree but he's very smart and has utilized his God-given talents well.

it would be good if you could explain what, exactly, you based your opinion on.

To me, he seems to have above average intellect. He went to a competitive, private high school. He's done some unique things from a business perspective that were at first ridiculed and then turned out pretty well. He speaks well about public issues.

So there's just a lot out there that even the casual observer could cite as him being bright.

And so I ask again, on what exactly did you base your opinion.

So 75% of the starters have three years or more going for them? I like that.

He makes various inane comments about political matters, about which he knows very little. His comments, however, about the NCAA, seem to be relatively astute, but they are consistent with the opinions of most of the sports fans in the country, including most on this Board. Some private high schools are competitive and some are not. How did you reach your opinion about Akron St. Vincent St. Marys?

It's a shame that you equate "disagrees with me politically" with "not very bright." That type of thinking represents a lot of what's wrong in Washington, and also what makes the Rant Board spectacular.

Typically, I describe those who disagree with me politically as "evil". </s>

Had you said that he was living in Miami but chose to move back o Akron this discussion would be over.

I said nothing of the sort, but if you're intent on describing the issue I've raised as a political issue, have at it. And, take it to the Rant Board, which you seem to enjoy for reasons that escape me. In the meantime, it remains my opinion that Lebron is not very bright. Others might not agree, and they are entitled to their opinions as well. Ciao.

You literally equated "differs from me politically" with "not very bright", unless I've interpreted phrases such as "various inane comments about political matters" and "not very bright", both of which are direct quotes. They're not really subject to interpretation.

You think people who disagree politically with you are dumb. Own it.

You really are not a very good reader. I said nothing about "differs from me politically". That was your quote. I said Lebron has made various inane comments about political matters. My point was that he is not very astute when it comes to politics, which continues to be my opinion. Maybe he's smarter than I thought, though, and I might pick Lebron in a head-to-head dual with you. Move on to the Rant Board please and continue this crusade over there where I won't have to read it.

Why were his comments inane?

LeBron’s a great American.

What he’s doing with this school is remarkable. Guaranteed four-year scholarships to current third- and fourth-graders, based on academic performance. But *also* GED and job placement support to those kids’ parents today. Amazing.

The school will quadruple in size - serving grades 1-8 - by 2022. Remarkable.
