As good a story as I've read on the anxiety of being an NU basketball fan during this fateful season.

None of this is relevant unless we win one more game. We win one more and now there is a chance we get our name called. We win two more, we can feel good about that chance. We don't win anymore, then forget it. So... this discussion is still premature. These quotes are fantastic. I feel the same way but would have never articulated my feelings in this quite the same vivid way.
“I have never once put the television on on Selection Sunday and for one minute expected to hear our name,” said Greenberg. “I mean, literally never once in 32 years. That is just by nature going to elicit more enthusiasm than people who have kind of been there done that. You know on Selection Sunday that Kentucky is looking for their draw; they’re watching for, ‘Were we the No. 1 overall seed or not?’ "
AND
“I feel the same way about Selection Sunday as I did about parenting before I had a kid. I never cared about other people’s children, and now I find children fascinating.”
March 12 is my younger daughter's 11th birthday, and I know she and I will be watching the selection show together. I will have my laptop open and will buy tickets for any NCAA tournament game no matter where it is. My wife is an NU grad and my other daughter is named Allison because I met my wife at that dorm. I cannot wait to see Northwestern on the screen (in the bracket and not among those who missed)!
Go Cats!!!
I don't want to read it. At this point, I prefer to not think about NU basketball until I tune in to watch them beat Indiana tomorrow night.

It's exhausting. They were 7-2 in conference play, with the talk here about possibly winning the conference and what color uniforms they'd wear in the tourney. Then Lindsey got mono, and they've lost four of six, with the offense becoming stagnant and the defense losing its intensity.Me either. I'm burned out on tournament talk as the Cats stagger to the finish of the season. Just want to see a win Saturday.

What seemed like a shoe-in a few weeks ago is now becoming a nail-biter. We need to get back on the winning track, and hopefully that starts tomorrow. Until then, I'm going to try to limit my stress levels by trying to think about other things.
NIT is a lock, before it was a debate among us. Now NCAA has become a realistic hope. A year early for those here that I feel have true, realistic bball opinions.
The Dayton win still withstanding though.Whatever. True fans knew we had a realistic chance to make it to the Dance this season. And guess what, they were right. It is still realistic.
If we get into the NCAA's and lose our first game, I won't consider the season to be an overwhelming success. The last 6 games have been unlucky. And disappointing, the Wisconsin win notwithstanding. We lost to the Illini TWICE for Pete's sake. And really got taken to the shed by them.
I won't feel good about the team unless we go on a run the rest of the way. If we lose out, then we are NOT going to the NCAA tourney nor would we deserve to. I hope Lindsey has recovered and we win out from here in the regular season, and at least make it to the Final Four in the B1G.

I love idiots that believe they define what a true fan is. Such a simple world they populate.
Yeah, I love you too. You're the one who was talking about true fans to begin with.
Wrong, I spoke to those that I feel have a realistic bball opinion. My opinion, not statement of fact and not judging who is a fan. Simply a statement towards who I value for opinions around here. Outside your recent judge mental, holier than thou march, that includes you. But today, your personality leaves much to be desired. You fandom, well that is not for me to judge.
And why does NJ like both our comments?

Get a win. Then celebrate at the Irish Lion.Wish us luck, headed to the airport. Go Cats!
