Gragg Speaks: “I will take ownership of the head coaching hires”

Sounds like Gragg is being retained and will have full control. Good luck Dr Gragg. Redeem yourself! I believe in you!

I don't think he understands what the word "ownership" means. It certainly doesn't mean cowering across the ocean while news of a scandal is released and then delivering news to the team of a head football coach firing via Zoom briefly then signing off without taking questions. Or outsourcing the hiring of a head baseball coach to two donors.

Schill needs to go for allowing him to stay.

Like catching a lead life preserver... NU, the only college in the US and Canada with both a football HC AND an AD that can't assess coaching talent... what could go wrong?

The baseball season has been over since late May. You'd think Gragg would be anxious to correct one of the worst HC hires of all time, but it's taken 6 weeks to get his attention.

Big Morty and JP - guys that were ON IT, all in on athletic success at NU and on the field and in the crowd! NU was doin' fine.

"As the Director of Athletics, I take ownership of our head coaching hires and we will share our next steps as they unfold."

...and then emails Northwestern IT asking where the "Take Ownership" button on Zoom is.

That explains it. Yesterday I felt a terrible disturbance in the Force, as if a thousand tortured souls screamed in unified agony, and then tailed off into a heavy emptiness that beckoned me like the Void. Had a loud burst of flatulence not broken my trance, I might have succumbed to the Darkness.

How the F does this guy have a job???? I just can't...........

mere incompetence isn’t enough to get anyone canned at NU. Find a Gragg scandal and get a media publication to blow it up and that’ll get the wheels moving
Are you serious? What kind of evil are you proposing?

Didn't Morty hire Gragg?
WHOA! He surely DID!

No idea what was going on with Big Morty on the way out, but his first choice, Polisky, was an obvious mistake and many wonder how he could even be tempted to hire someone who is a current defendant against a former student. If the alleged crime were a mere felony, maybe NU backs him anyway because they presume innocence and admire the superior skills he brings to the position. However it is a sexual alleged crime, and therefore the accused is presumed guilty and must bear the automatic guilt until the case is decided. Indeed, there were even protests involving the mayor of Evanston in favor of the accuser. They did not and do not KNOW anything more than we do, but that's the way the PC mob rolls. So Polisky resigned. After that, the folks running NU were thrown into a panic at the appearance NU had given, that they were continuing to ignore the accuser's complaints, and felt the need to make a firm PC response and they likely assisted Big Morty with the decision to hire Gragg, whose achievements at NU speak for themselves. He has been nearly invisible until the Fitz disaster.

You see a similar reaction in the panicked decision to fire Fitz. No doubt the folks that run NU are brilliant folks, but they have not shown it in either the hiring of Gragg or the firing of Fitz.
