Venric Mark is enrolling at for spring quarter for complete his Sociology degree. Nothing but positives from Venric about NU:

"Northwestern has not only provided me with life after football with my degree, but has stuck by my side and has shown me what family really is, ever since I first stepped foot on campus in 2010."

Too bad whatever happened last year, happened, but he seems to have his priorities straight and is looking o life after football even while hoping for a shot at the NFL.

Honestly," said Mark, "I don't know of any other university that would have done what NU has done for my family and me."

That's awesome. A shame he had to miss his senior season. I'm sure we would have made a bowl with him in the lineup - probably could have won the NIU game when JJ hadn't totally emerged yet and we had zero offense in that game.

That is really fantastic. It's what college football should be about....developing student-athletes for life after football. Very happy for Venric.

Great to hear. Still one of the few programs doing it right.

And on the hardcourt, Cobb.

Both are examples of the school doing right by the athlete.

we can never, ever lose sight of the fact that these are young student athletes. They are not gladiators. It is refreshing to hear that the school has stood behind them both, although standing behind Cobb would be an "obstructed view" compared to Mark
