Everyone in Salt Lake City was blown away by the turnout for the Wildcats. The fan support was amazing. I saw Doug Collins after the game, what a nice guy, thanking the fans for coming out to support the team. Players parents too were thrilled at the support from the fans from all over. You could feel the fan support growing from the Rutgers game and forward and then exploding with the NCAA games.
If you were at the pregame events in Salt Lake it was amazing the number of former Wildcat players and fans from all eras that came to support the team. Probably 1,000 at the Saturday pregame event. Fitz was in prime form pumping up the crowd. And the NU Athletic department was smart, not charging for the event, just a cash bar, which encouraged everyone to come. Participation and engagement leads to money and support and athletics finally is taking the right approach.
Well done to all.
