get out there and go recruit, gents! We are as close as we've ever been on talent level vs the top of the conference, but we're not there yet. We need some more game breakers on both sides of the ball and speed on the outside. If I were doing the recruiting, my shopping list priorities would be:

1) True pass rush DE, enabling a four man rush to get more consistent pressure on the QB. I like our zone scheme, but DL has got to get there in 3-5 seconds. We have some solid hosses on DL, but still struggle to get pressure with 4, let alone 3.

2) NFL Potential OT or two. Our QB is too often under immense pressure when only facing a four man rush, let alone when blitzed.

3) More speed and athleticism at WR. Kirtz and GHP seem like a good start on paper. Start lining up the next wave for 2020. We need to be able to take he top off the D and actually make 50/50 balls 50/50, not 20/80 which is how it feels now. If teams are going to line up in aggressive press man sets, we need to be able to win the 1:1 battles.

4) More speed at CB. When we are getting beat over the top even in 3 deep zone, well, Houston we have a problem. OSU didn't even need to throw 50/50 balls because they could run right past our deep zone D, and we wouldn't dare play man against their WRs due to the difference in speed, leaving the 10-20 yard outs wide open all game.

5) Kickers. Their punter was hitting PGA style 9 iron approach shots out there. Sick! What a difference that makes in field position versus our 40 yard punts at best, 20 yard shanks at worst.

Maybe I'm still a bit dilerious, but I didn't see major discrepancies in talent elsewhere. Would love a "lightening" type RB to compliment Bowser's thunder, but he is a good one and I look forward to watching the remainder of his NU career.

So, coaches, pick youreleves up today and take the short break you have now to get out there and make the most of the visibility, your 5 star Fitz Carlton resort of a practice facility, the benefits of a world class education, your B1G CotY and stability in the ranks, the best city in the country in Chicago, and go get the talent that will take this program to the next level. You got this!
