Northwestern will hold an open spring practice on Saturday. Just don't call it a spring game.

The Wildcats will run through their final of 15 spring practices at the Walter Athletic Center in the morning. They're calling it a spring game and "inviting" the public only because they have to if recruits will be present, per NCAA rules. But it will be a very limited public. Because of COVID and space restrictions, only player families and friends and a select few media members will be on hand.

Not surprisingly, the recruits expected for the practice hail from the Chicago area, and two of them are commits.

WR commit Reggie Fleurima and TE commit Chris Petrucci will be in Evanston the morning after they meet in their 2021 season finale on Friday night. It should be quite a matchup between Fleurima's Naperville Central Redhawks (5-0) and Petrucci's Maine South Hawks (5-0), two undefeated powerhouses who are both ranked in the Top 10.

In addition, these uncommitted prospects will be on hand:

OLB Sebastian Cheeks
Commentary: The odds look to be stacked against Northwestern in the battle for Cheeks, who wants to get out of Evanston for college, according to multiple sources. But Fleurima got him to come to this practice and said that Cheeks loves head coach Pat Fitzgerald, so all hope is not lost. Still, most think the dynamic Rivals250 defender will wind up in South Bend.

OL Deuce McGuire
Commentary: This is the guy that we think will end up in Purple. Another Friend of Fleurima, all signs point to McGuire joining Northwestern's 2022 class at some point. He's just too good a fit. He's coming back for an official visit on June 11-13, but we wouldn't be stunned if the Chicago Marist standout decides to pull the trigger on Saturday.

2023 WR Carnell Tate
Commentary: It's great that Northwestern is getting a Top 50 2023 player on campus so early, but it's going to be awfully difficult to land the IMG Academy wideout who transferred from Chicago Marist. It became just a little bit harder on Friday, when Tate pulled in an offer from Ohio State and called it his dream school. But it's still good to get him in the facility and around other players and commits as often as possible.
