I want to be reasonable. This has been a great season already 1) most wins ever, 2) best showing in the B1G tournament ever, 3) announcement of major arena rebuild (I thought that would come eventually but this is pretty fast IMO) 4) Broke some records like longest run ever in the B1G. and of course 5) First time in the big dance.

SO, I should be satisfied "just to be there" but I'm not. I hate the idea of being a one and done it leaves the door open to comments about not really belonging etc. After that, I really want another shot at ND which means beating Gonzaga and I'll be disappointed if we don't beat ND so I guess I'm not really going to be happy unless we get to the elite 8. Well, if we get that far we might as well win the whole thing right?

I don't think anyone believes NU doesn't belong in the tournament. And in an 8/9 game one deserving team goes home unhappy. Relax and enjoy the ride however long it lasts!

Many of us (by no means all) think he's a turd in retrospect. At the time he was just a mediocre OC at Maryland who our AD had met at a minority coaching conference many years earlier. Hard to see why you'd blame them for hiring him at that point.

Our administration was pretty unhappy with the off the field stuff which probably encouraged him to leave, although he was almost certainly leaving for PSU anyway.

Well ok and fwiw, Franklin kept a starting WR and LB out of the Rose Bowl for missing a final exam. Can't think of a B1G coach besides Fitz who would do the same.

I think I read yesterday that #8 teams win 9.5% of their Round of 32 games. (Since #1 has never lost an opening round, that's a straight up number against #1s.)

We have overcome A LOT worse odd than that many many times before!

All I can add is I hope Collins and crew have a tape of the most recent BYU v. Gonzaga game to review and dissect before this weekend. Did BYU, the team that beat Gonzaga, even make it to the NIT this year?

I don't want to sound greedy and of course I am delighted we are in the NCAA tournament, but to me the difference between winning no games in the tournament and winning even one game is huge.

I could see them actually playing at that level for two games. I think the are really good but short bench and talent drop off or experience drop off on the bench wears them down. If Scotty had stayed healthy they would have won more games in the BIG.
