It turns out that there were 17 official visitors at Northwestern this weekend, not 16 as originally reported.

And that 17th mystery prospect turned out to be two-star athlete Trae Williams of The Plains (Ohio) Athens. He is being recruited as a cornerback by the Wildcats.

The 5-foot-11, 189-pounder is currently committed to Ohio, where his father is the defensive line coach. Northwestern made a strong late push, however, and got him to take an official visit this weekend. He also reports offers from Toledo and Akron.

Williams played both running back and cornerback at Athens, leading the Bulldogs to a 14-1 record and the Ohio Division III state championship game. He was a prolific runner, rushing for 2,289 yards on 224 carries (10.2 ypc) and scoring a whopping 44 touchdowns, according to MaxPreps.com. He also had 11 catches for 271 yards and two more scores. Defensively, he had 41 tackles, one interception and 16 passes defensed. He also returned kicks and punts.

Here's what Rivals Midwest Recruiting Expert Josh Hemholdt had to say about Williams' performance in Athens' 56-52 championship game loss to Toledo Central Catholic:

"The 5-foot-11, 189-pound Williams is a two-way star for Athens, playing both running back and cornerback. He appears to have the highest upside at cornerback in college, because his size/speed combination is unique for the position. Williams had five tackles and a pass break-up on that side of the ball Thursday. On offense he rushed 17 times for 70 yards and two touchdowns. What really stands out about Williams, though, is that speed and it was most noticeable on defense where he tracked down several long runs when it looked like he did not have an angle."
