Apparently, NU's 38-0 loss to Michigan won't be much of an influence in three-star Detroit safety Jalen Kelly-Powell's decision process. Here's what he had to say about NU and Fitz in TheWolverine's story about his visit to Ann Arbor:
A 4.0 student at Cass Tech, Kelly-Powell is serious about academics. Because of that, Michigan and Northwestern are both high on the three-star's list of favorite schools. The coaches at both schools are also a draw for the 6-0, 180-pounder. Did a blowout win by the Maize and Blue alter the way Kelly-Powell looks at the Wildcats though?
"No," he said. "Not at all. Coach [Pat] Fitzgerald showed class even in defeat. When James Ross was ejected from the game, Coach Fitzgerald was the first to shake his hand as he was leaving the field. Coach [Jim] Harbaugh and Coach Fitzgerald are similar to me in the way they do things. They are hard-nosed and they do things the right way. They genuinely care about helping you reach your goals."
