Do you recruits get to read your articles on them if they don't have a subscription. I've seen some articles on the ticker that say things like "School is closing in a recruit" or "Recruit really likes school."
I'm just curious if you could possibly do some subliminal messaging that could help out the recruitment of the players. Like instead of saying "Recruit sounded surprised to get an offer from NU." You could say, "Recruit sounded excited to receive an offer from NU." Then the recruit reads it and thinks, "Yeah, I am pretty excited."
Or if a recruit is deciding to commit, you could write, "Recruit to NU basically a done deal." Then the recruit reads that, thinks that you're right and jumps on board.
Maybe you could work with someone who has some experience with breaking down tape (GCG) and then he can write an article on why this player would be a perfect fit for NU's system, but would be completely terrible for all the other choices.
Sometimes if you print the legend enough... it becomes a fact: See Christopher Columbus discovering the world was round, Paul Revere making the great ride to alert the army the redcoats were coming, and of course Ben Franklin discovering electricity when his kite got struck by lightning.
