Edited to add: Scroll down to Post #12 regarding Holiday Bowl representative's comments after seeing Northwestern beat Wisconsin

Posted - pregame:
Moderate, to at times heavy snow, will continue along and south of the I-94 corridor with the heaviest snow near the Illinois border. Light to moderate snow will affect areas to the north with lesser amounts. The snow will continue through the overnight before ending from west to east through the morning over South Central Wisconsin, and afternoon across Southeast Wisconsin.

As intensifying low pressure moves across Southern Illinois and Indiana to near Cleveland by Saturday evening, a period of northeast winds will enhance the snow amounts over Southeast Wisconsin, especially from Milwaukee South.

Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until noon CST Saturday.

A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until noon CST Saturday.

  • Timing: moderate to occasionally heavy snow continuing overnight into Saturday morning.
  • Snow accumulations: 6 to 14 inches with the highest totals toward the Illinois border and near Dubuque.
  • Winds: north 10 to 20 mph with some higher gusts possible.
  • Impacts: snow covered roads, with some drifting, and greatly reduced visibilities.

Recommended actions
A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of snow are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only Travel in an emergency. If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight. Food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.

Honestly, I don't care about the damn weather! What I want to know is: HOW DOES THIS AFFECT THE MooseCast??? If Dale's Meese aren't chowing down on some yummy raspberry bushes, then I'm seriously worried about beating Wisconsin!!

Give us the IMPORTANT report, Mr. Alaska!!! :)

Just stepped in from hoisting the Moose luring "Cat Signal " with snow simultaneously falling here and at Camp Randall. (Of course with the flurry of snow falling through the night it will be difficult to confirm from hoof prints if the Rally Moose indeed made it all the way to the raspberry patch.)

And here positioned at the raspberry patch .....

And for reference, here is a copy paste of Thursday's posting with the same street location as seen in the above presently taken photo - with the street visible beyond the raspberry patch and snow covered yard:

"For what it is worth on the karma front, we just encountered a moose on our street this evening. We were headed over to visit a friend when our vehicle came within two feet of a moose standing on the side of our street. We did not even see it in the dark until we were right upon it so we had not even slowed down. Fortunately it did not step even one step closer or we would have made contact and likely undone whatever karma the Mojo Moose intended for out game Saturday.

Pictured is a daylight view from a prior occasion on the same street.

At this moment with snow falling both in Anchorage and Madison the weather is almost identical. Our high here in Alaska during the day is actually projected to be one degree higher than it will be in Madison. (32 degrees vs. 31 degrees.)

The "light" snow is a bit of a misnomer though as we are expected to get 6- 8 inches and Madison is expected to have 4 to 5 inches inches by noon Saturday.

The chill factor will make it feel much colder in Madison as the wind is three times the speed. (5mph in Anchorage and 14 mph in Madison.)

Just talked to Amcat daughter who lives in Madison NU grad btw). About 6 inches of snow on the ground and still snowing but supposed to stop around noon. Go Cats!

Yeah, it just stopped snowing here too. Just finished using the snow blower to clear the driveway - about 7 inches fell over night.

Wildcats snow fest earns them a place in the sun-ny San Diego?

Per the Chicago Tribune:

A representative from the Holiday Bowl was observing both Wisconsin and Northwestern as a candidate for the Dec. 30 contest in San Diego.

"For either Northwestern or Wisconsin, it would be their first trip ever to San Diego to play in a bowl game," Gary Rectenwald said before the game. And we would be delighted to host Northwestern University."
