Howard next week and then we kick Nebraska’s ass

The Huskers are hot garbage. NU will be coming off a bye. (Maybe we’ll find a new OL coach.)

How sad it must be for those fans.

GO CATS GO CATS GO CATS GO CATS GO!!!!!!
The first time today I’ve agreed with something you’ve said. Beat Howard and then the Nebraska game is an important and meaningful game in October. Lots to play for.

And, you do realize that the PSU front 7 might be the best in college football? I mean, the oline ain’t great but they played well against Minnesota. Today probably isn’t the best measuring stick to declare the oline horrible.

That play action pass on the goal line — with a totally unblocked down lineman — was an embarrassment.

By all rights, NU was overmatched, but that hit on Bryant was just…wrong. Inexcusable, and that’s dudes not knowing their assignments, and that’s coaching.

Agree completely.

That Penn State defense will be among the best we face this year.

We should be able to move the ball more effectively against some of these other teams.

Next 2 games will tell us a lot more than this one.

Big “if” of course is whether Ben is healthy. Without him, I think we’re in trouble

Only seen this from @mshelton33 on Bryant.
Define "long term".

JK.

I think he played as well as he did last week. He just faced a hell of a defense. He was cool under fire. Not as much against Rutgers and Puke. He did OK, couple of errant throws but couldn't really get into a rhythm with all the pressure. Maybe play only if needed v Howard (we MUST win) and then the bye.

Yeah, we can't be risking the Howard game (there's no easier game on this year's schedule), but it's good that we have 2 weeks until Nebraska (the 2nd easiest game on the schedule).

The next 2 games and then the last 2 are really where the season is going to be decided.

Maryland, Wisconsin, and Iowa are arguably the 3 best teams we face otherwise, but I think we might be able to steal a win against either Iowa or Wisconsin.

The fact that we could actually challenge for the division this year sounded completely pie in the sky a couple weeks ago... but all of a sudden it doesn't look like a big hill to climb (I still expect Wisconsin to eventually win the division).

Either way, there is a path to 5-6 wins and a potential bowl game, so there's a lot to play for this year despite how bleak things looked pre-season.

We've seen this too many times from the OL. The PSU lineman was lined up against LG Priebe but Priebe inexplicably went left, leaving a free path to Bryant. The blocking schemes suck.

I read somewhere thar the play was extra stupid because the CENTER was supposed to get all the out there to Block the guy. No way for me to confirm

It’s not the blocking schemes, it’s blown assignments or poor blocks. And when you say Priebe inexplicably went left, that’s exactly what he’s supposed to do there.

It’s goal line play action to get the LBs to bite as you’ll notice NU is trying to get multiple TEs out on routes. Olges is actually all by himself for an easy TD if we don’t blow assignments and whiff up front. It looks like Wrather and Thompson both blew assignments or just whiffed as they’re basically running inside zone play action where everyone is blocking to their left which on inside zone means everyone has a gap to their left. Wrather should get #28 who shoots the A gap and then back side Thompson has B gap and he doesn’t get there so 91 comes free also.

Actually a good call by Bajakian with multiple busts up front that cost us an easy TD.

Excellent analysis. Thanks for sharing.

THE best.

I thought Bajakian called a good game given the team NU was facing. He is clearly willing to take risks, which apparently fitz rarely let him do. Feels as though he on a much looser leash, and it has shown in three of their five games. I also do not disagree with the two fourth down tries that failed, since either way if they don't try, they lose and if they succeed there is a chance to win.

Hopefully we can get to a bowl and let Mr. Anderson go afterwards.

Unfortunately, that's been the case all too often for the Cats on trick plays and 2 point conversation attempts.

Sign of poor coaching (not having the players adequately prepared).

One play at a time
One Series at a time
One quarter at a time
One half at a time
One game at a time
It really really works that way.

As Cats fans we always worry. Attempted to find the early line on the game tonite online with out success
One betting site did have a prediction of Howard to win and cover with a final score of Howard. 31, NU 15.
So I guess I'll worry.

Not worried. The only question is if the final score will be more impressive than against UTEP.

Lest we forget...

2022 SIU
2018 Akron
2016 Western Michigan AND Illinois State
2014 NIU

I'll be happy w/a W, period.
