OSU is decent. Very winnable game! I think we need more penetration from Demps and McIntosh and then feed the ball inside to our big men (Olah and Pardon) We need to mix that aspect of the game up with three point shots.

OSU is decent. NU isn't when they play in C'bus. Look for the Buck$ to roll.

Great analysis. It's in Columbus, therefore we will get killed. If they play their best, we probably will, but they are very inconsistent.

I wonder if Coach Collins has emphasized that this is an important game?

NU hasn't won in Columbus since 1977.........Jimmy Carter was President and Bill Foster the NU coach. Odds are against NU in this one.

Foster became the NU coach in the mid-80s I think.... so it was pre-Foster, which is a long time ago.

Actually, Bill Foster was the Duke coach then. We were coached by the impressive Tex Winter.

I don't feel great about how we match up with them on the outside, we struggled last time. I do think there is opportunity for our bigs to score against them- some combo of feeding Olah and running screen roll or putbacks by Pardon. If we can do that and take some pressure off the guards, hopefully things open up for them later.

Oh, and if/ when we get open shots it would be helpful to make some. Maybe just imagine that we are playing Minnesota?

Go Cats

Didn't we have a game there where Tavaras Hardy had a short shot in the lane roll off the rim in the final seconds, a shot that might've won the game? I seem to recall it being a low score, maybe in the upper 50's, and I remember that as being our best shot to win a game there in ages. Am I, um, misremembering?

So that would have made it early 2000s instead of 77. Still a long time ago and besides, he missed. Of course, under CCC, we beat WI in Madison so anything is possible.

And we won in East Lansing in the not so distant past. OSU is far from a great team. It's a team we should be able to compete against and beat if shots fall and the game flow breaks our way.

What is even more remarkable to me is, since that win in 1977, and including that game, NU is 9-60 in all venues against the Bucks. NU has lost the last 11 consecutive games and is 2-28 in the last 30 meetings. A win tonight will be quite a feat!

We've done a lot of things in the CC era that we haven't done in a long, long time. Beating Ohio State in Columbus would be a fine addition to this list...

Ohio State looks like they just know they are going to beat us. It's just a matter of how. Again, we could not handle the press, like at Iowa. I'll bet we see some of it against Illini Saturday although Illinois does not have the length that Ohio State throws out there. Will we ever beat the Buckeyes in Columbus again? Next up, the football team that hasn't won there since 1971.

12 consecutive losses. OSU just out athletics NU.
