I don't understand the officiating

Not excusing the 2nd half effort, which was f'n awful. But calling a foul for every tiny touch really makes basketball unenjoyable to watch and takes the game out of the players hands sometimes. There doesn't seem to be any consistency or rhyme/reason to how they call a game...

Totally agree. very inconsistent, some tricky tack calls and then they let them bang. One of BMac's fouls he was completely hammered by the offensive player.......ruins a game when it become s a foul fest.

Yeah the officiating was brutal starting at the end of the 1st half. I was sitting about 10' from Phillips and D. Collins who were expressing their displeasure to the officials (as was l). We've all seen this officiating crew b4 and my perception is that they are good, bud damn it felt like they really wanted to be noticed tonight.

I totally agree. These early season contests are just painful to watch. The definition as to what is foul seems to be all over the place from minute to minute. I don't think it's been biased for or against us but it just ruins any flow of the basketball game.

It also seems like the new rules are set up to remove the offensive pick from the game. Someone has to explain this new rule to me because I don't get it... oh, and explain it to Alex Olah while you're at it.

I can't tell if its the players who are a little less disciplined early in the seasons or the officials adjusting to new rule changes

But I'm not sure if I can stomach more basketball where every other possession ends up in free throws...

Dakich had a funny comment about D. Collins.....they showed him in the stands sipping a cold cup of good clean American fun, and Dan said "that how you watch your kid, have a couple of shots before the game and beers during the game". I agree, nothing more nerve wracking than watching your kid perform......

Doug's face looked a little like he'd either come directly to his seat from bitter cold outside...or paid very close attention to Dakich's suggestions.

I'm with you on that. It was really odd as it looked on TV in real-time -- seemed that when there was actual contact on a set pick, that was OK, but when somebody went around the pick-setter that was somehow an illegal screen. I never really saw replays of the people going by AO as he got called for those fouls (again, whistle seemed to come when guys went right by him).

It was not fun to watch and I don't like the way this game was officiated. What I like less is the fact that we did nothing to adjust to it on the offensive end.
This is a game where Olah should have been fed, fed, and fed again. He should have had 15 FGA...instead he's popping out for mid-range jumpers and constantly being asked to pop up top for the screen and roll (where I don't think he's at his best). If you're not gonna work the post, then at least have some slashing movement to the basket.

The only way you become a jump shooting team with two centers above 6'10" is if the coach lets you become a jump shooting team. Once again we shot above 40% from the arc...that's not going to happen every night. What are we going to do when we go cold?

A lot of times, there is an early season emphasis that the refs call a lot. There have been a lot of Ticky Tac fouls call in each game I have seen.
