I am about to start feeling sorry for U of I. This is getting out of control.
Given his record at Illinois, is this enough to get Beckman tossed mid-off-season?

How much longer is (was) his contract? I'm tired of U of I wasting taxpayer $ for their AD's bad decisions.
It never gets old. I don't know how many times I've watch that play, over and over, and I still love it. Maybe my all-time favorite Northwestern play

Where the hell do you get that from? Tourism is one of the states most profitable enterprises. How many foreign visitors make there way to Champaign/Urbana?
You're comparing apples to oranges. Not that I care about Shake's statement.
Tourism is an industry comprised of many private enterprises and state agency. Illinois Athletics would be a single income stream like gas tax. I would think gas tax would be higher.
It was a joke given that Illinois's (the state) finances are completely messed up while Illinois athletics takes in 77 million a year.
The U of I is absolutely tax payer funded, but not one cent of that is given to the DIA for coaching hires or renovations. The DIA gets all of its money for that stuff through its own fundraising. Remember that State Farm paid for nearly half of our current basketball renovation (SF gave around $30 million, IIRC), and the rest was donor-based.
