I had forgotten what a sweet win it was over Notre Dame this past season

Just came across this and it brought it all back. Trevors last "complete" game too. Good for him to go out this way.

Great win. Way to go Cats!

It's weird how often this happens even when the game is a historical record. I find myself pumping my fist and groaning just like if it were live.

Thanks, Euro! What a great way to brighten a dreary Sunday afternoon.

I especially enjoyed re-watching Green's long run.

A great and memorable game. Afterward it was a little bittersweet because of the fact we could go into South Bend and beat ND in November, yet not make a bowl. It highlighted in a way how this team missed its potential for this season by a wide margin.

It was a sweet win, indeed.

As in the Michigan thriller for Cobb, happy for Siemian - glad that both got to experience a thrilling victory at the end of their injury-riddled careers.

One thing to note in this game and the PU game is that the RBs were able to break longer runs.

This was due to opposing Ds playing the pass (both of Green's long runs on a draw) and/or McCall mixing things up by sending a man in motion and drawing off a defender (so that JJ basically only had to beat one guy before seeing open field).

Gotta love the look on the faces of the Domer fans after Mitchell's kick went thru the uprights in OT.

Our offense was really clicking from about the middle of the 4th quarter vs Michigan, through ND and at Purdue prior to the TS injury. Tough break as I truly believe we would have won our final game and made to a bowl.

Which is why Fitz and Co. are still going after pro-style QBs as well as DT QBs.

As long as the QB has decent mobility, the O can spark (w/ a QB where the D has to respect the pass, it opens things up for the QB to run, even if he isn't a RB caliber runner).

Now, if the 'Cats can assemble together an above avg. O-line, then both the pass and run game will improve that much more (JJ's YPC would go up quite a bit).

Katatonic,

The o-line will be well above average, just as it was several times this past season, if we have a mobile quarterback at the helm. Trevor was healthy and mobile for the ND game, and we moved the ball consistently both on the ground and through the air.

We'll see about that.

Still have that nasty image of the O-line collapsing like a horseshoe around Siemian against Western Illinois' D-line.

And the 'Cats lose 2 of their most experienced linemen.

I somehow doubt we'll see the O-line being able to push back the opposing D-line on a regular basis when everyone knows it's a run play.

WIU had some decent players, including a 4-star transfer from VaTech, on their DL.

Oh how I wish for OL play like we saw against Nebraska in 2011, or Mississippi State in 2013. We beat the crap out of Nebraska in 2011!

4-star?

Pfffffft - not a 2-star, so not impressed.

But seriously, says something about the recent state of NU's O-line when against NEB that year, Schmidtty was able to run for 54 yds on 13 carries good for a 4.2 ypc (half of those yds coming on that one drive).

In that drive, the NU O-line was able to push back NEB's D-line (probably says something about the state of NEB's D-line at that time as well) even tho they knew it was going to be a run play after run play.
