The returning players are going to rememeber this game all offseason. Gaines. Pardon. Falzon. Law.

They had Michigan State down by 27. Had a chance at the first win over a Top 5 team in, what, three decades? Better than a chance — all they had to do was not choke, and they’d have fans rushing the court like it was 2017 Michigan all over again. It was right there in front of them. No doubt they let their minds wander, even if for a few seconds, at halftime.

Nope. Devastating loss. It hurts more this way than just losing by 10-15 points over the course of the game. Maybe that’s for the best for all involved in this program, which has lost its way.

I want them to feel this pain. I want them to feel something. Then I want them to do something about it.

There was a time when I would have been throwing a major tantrum over a result like this, but I've mellowed a lot in the last few years. I'm already over it. It's only a game.

Agree, it is a game. It's not a company closing or layoffs, so I too can enjoy a great dinner with the family and movie night.

There was a year Michigan St went to the Title Game and we beat them in East Lansing

I am not talking about you two. I am talking about the players and the coaches.

C’mon, do you really think this isn’t painful to the team? We were WAY over matched talent wise and we played tough. 8 schlorship players available and one of them played extended minutes for the first time in months. MSU has a team full of McDonalds AA’s and two lottery picks. Sorry, we didn’t back down and shots didn’t fall in the second half and part of that is because MSU started to play defense. I am not one for moral victories, but we played gritty today. You want to complain, talk about the effort against Indiana or Maryland. There was good effort by everyone out there today, we just got wore down by a team with much better talent.

I specifically said I think it is painful for the team. That's not the point. I said it will be fuel for them in the offseason.

Not sure how you can derive a moral victory out of giving up what might have been the biggest comeback in Big Ten history. That's a stretch.

I said they played hard. If that happened every game we would have a better record. MSU had grown men in there. Pardon looked like a peanut. He was getting ragdolled for position. I was 25 feet away, not watching on TV and this loss was not due to a lack of effort. We put a scare in the top ranked team in the country. I am fine when we play hard and avoid stupidity. I think we did that today.

So we feel better about our effort if get down by 10-15 and MSU just puts it in cruise control and maintains that lead? This outcome will make no difference one way or another to how we play them next season. Hopefully, the lesson is the game is two halves, but I am pretty sure they already know that.

I tend to be more inclined to buy into moral victories and as much fun as the first half was, I unfortunately agree with your assessment.

At the moment, I'm having a hard time finding any positives in allowing the largest comeback in BIG history, even if it was against the #2 in the country. On the wrong side of the record book yet again...

This is two consecutive games where major collapses have occurred. A reset is needed and it's probably for the best that the season is coming to a close. Quite a bummer though because BMac and Lindsey had some truly outstanding moments in Evanston. Disappointed to see it end in this manner.
