If Fitz won't fire JON, then Fitz has to go. Sad, but simple.

Literally all of us realized in Game 1 of LAST YEAR, that JON was a horrific replacement to Coach Hank. It took literally 1 play to blow up the reputation that Coach Hank had built for our defense (and hell, our program, which was essentially a gritty, hard nosed defensive team) but hey, gotta be fair, so we had to give him more time.

Now it's ridiculous. The damage to our program has grown exponentially this year. Given the NIL burden on top of it, I don't know how we dig ourselves out. But if you can't see that this guy is the worst defensive coordinator in P5, I just don't understand. We've invested too much in the football program to have it be this big of a joke.

You know who's happy from all this? My wife. Because I'm around to do things on Saturday, because I won't waste another second WATCHING this drivel until a change is made.

Fitz IS the face of Northwestern football. But this is ruining it.

That's the question that I always come back to: I can understand Fitz hiring JON despite the glaring red flags in his history as DC of some horrific NFL defenses. Fitz and JON were likely close on Walk's staff as 2 of the younger members of the staff. I get that.

But after literally 1 play (and everything else after), it should be crystal clear that JON cannot be an effective DC at this level.

Coaching is the primary reason that we lost to SIU, Miami, and Duke.

The players have been out of position too often on too many plays; that's pure coaching error. I find it impossible to believe that a good DC would have as many big breakdowns as our defense has had the past 2 years even with the same group of players.

And as for Bajakian, he has to be able to develop QBs. If an OC can't develop QBs, then he can't be OC.

If Fitz isn't willing to evaluate his own staff and make changes, then he's as much of the problem as his coordinators.
