I don't find it surprising. It's highly unusual to see a coach at a major university dismissed a week before the season.

I joined about one month ago because this is about the only forum on the net that even mentions Northwestern Football. Over the course of a month, I've seen very little substance on this forum about our football but a big dose of other topics that have nothing to do with our team.

Maybe our fans don't like talking about our football and are not looking forward to it, but I've been following our team for a couple years now and I think this could be a turnaround year.

Also, there are a few fans on here who compete for attention and attempt to discredit each other at every thread, and that is becoming very old. So, between all the personal crapola and the off topic post, there is very little talk about our team, and even less talk about Thorson. I hope things pick up once more fans believe in our team after we beat Stanford.

I've been around for a number of years now, and I can assure you it will change the second the season starts. There will be a dozen or so threads just about the game, during it. Lots of other posters come back too (esp if we win!)

I know! I really miss that guy. I suspect he attended the seminar on care and feeding of internet message boards for parents of players which basically says don't post much.
