I talked to three-star CB Elijah Hicks tonight, and he has an interesting connection to NU. His coach at La Mirada (Calif.) is Mike Moschetti. You might remember that name. Moschetti played QB at Colorado for Gary Barnett in 1999, when a young Pat Fitzgerald was a GA in his second year of coaching and Moschetti was named the Big XII Offensive Newcomer of the Year. So Hicks could play for the same coach that coached his high school coach (albeit indirectly). Hicks says that Moschetti knows the NU staff very well.
It sounds like Hicks has a strong relationship with Jerry Brown. He is seriously thinking about taking an official to Evanston. He doesn't have the money to take a trip to Chicago for an unofficial (more evidence for the NCAA's need to allow officials earlier). Hicks has offers from USC and UCLA and almost the entire Pac-12 so it seems like a tall order, but the kid has a 4.0 GPA and has a brother who graduated from Penn, so he values the education NU provides.
