In the theme of Northwestern being a CHAMPION UNDERDOG (shameless plug), many are picking NU to lose to Iowa and Michigan State (both who will likely be favored over NU) on the road... but DID YOU KNOW, as a Road Dog, NU is 23-9 in the last ten years!
By comparison, Iowa is 25-32-1 as a Home Fav and MSU IS 29-32-1 in the last 10 years as a Home Fav.
In a slightly related stat, Michigan is only 5-5 as a road Fav under Harbaugh (have never been a road Fav vs a ranked team under Harbs).
I am withholding my thoughts on these games until later, but the ‘Cats win % (72%) as a road dog is one of the BEST in the conference (factoring in at least ten games played as a road dog)
Here are some notables (under their current coach who has been there at least three years)
Michigan 5-5 (50%)
Penn St 2-5 (29%)
Michigan St 11-9 (55%)
Iowa 11-12 (48%)
*Ohio State 3-0 (100%)
*Wisconsin 3-0 (100%)
Even if you just go with the SCHOOL’s record as a Road Dog, only 7 schools have a record above .500 in the past ten years (min. 10 games):
NORTHWESTERN 23-9 (72%)
Wisconsin 9-4 (69%)
Purdue 26-17 (60%)
Rutgers 23-16 (59%)
Nebraska 11-8-1 (55%)
Michigan St 11-9 (55%)
Minnesota 20-17-2 (51%)
Rutgers 21-20-1 (50%)
Go Cats!!!
