Iowa game

Huge game for the 'Cats (of course, they're all huge at this point). I'm already nervous. Penn State beat Minnesota and Michigan beat Nebraska today, meaning that the middle of the conference standings is muddled and the 'Cats can move closer to the top with another win.

More excitement this year as we find out how good this team can be. They seem to be gaining confidence.

They only do the "slow start" thing to test fan loyalty and prepare the fans for the next phase. I hope.

I've been wondering whether CC will have Lumpkin guard Jok instead of giving Law that assignment. Sanjay is bigger and fast enough to stay with Jok most of the time, and that takes the pressure off of Law to be great on both ends of the floor.

It will be Sanjay, imo, for the reasons you describe , though Law's defense has been amazing lately, especially given his illness.

I'm not sure what CC will do. Cook is very dangerous and plays more inside than Jok so maybe that's Sanjay. And then the quickness and length of Law on Jok who hovers more on the perimeter.

Lindsey is on Moss (homecoming of the Simeon kid) and Pardon is on Pemsl.

None are walks in the park. Iowa has a ton of talent.

The hope is that Iowa won't play the type of D they need to play for all forty minutes.

I think Sanjay starts on Jok and stays unless foul trouble. My theory is we need Law on the offense end, and don't want him to get his "rest" on offense after chasing Jok each possession.

BTW: USAToday has us as 6.5 point favorites.

Can we just kill them tomorrow, please? Thanks.
We can but if history is any indicator, we will lose. This is a tipping point game and almost all of our tipping point games end up as classic fails. It should be noted, however, that we are 6 pt favorites. I dont see how we lose this game, but as a longtime cat fan i can already feel the loss

Was thinking the same thing. I hope Lumpkin gets the call today to guard Jok. When Lumpkin is on the bench, then Law has to step up.

Always the contrarian, Willy. Here we are all warning each other to not sleep on Iowa, and you're giving the opposite advice. :p

No, just being a Wildcat believer, as always. Ok, maybe only by 8 or 9.
Will certainly be a tough game, but no easy ones in the B1G. Kinda shocked at the 6.5 pt line, I think it should be us by about 2.5.

Iowa struggled early in the season, but they still have a ton of talent. Especially on offense. If we win tonight, I suspect it will be in large part because we played great individual and team defense. The Jok matchup will be an interesting one, he might be the best scorer in the conference this year.

Not sure what happened to Iowa, but they were very flat. First time I remember us really stepping on a teams throat when we had them down. They just have too many freshman playing. We looked terrific, hope will keep focused and don't get full of ourselves.
They may have been flat, but our guys were outstanding. McIntosh was phenomenal tonight. He made his shots and had some fantastic assists.

Shooting 60% from the field and 46% on threes, plus playing solid defense, meant that we were able to really pull away in the second half. Iowa's a young team and didn't know how to respond.

We were so dominant, I fear a let down lol.

The team is healthy and confident. BMac has apparently been sick recently, but he looked recovered tonight. My concern isn't a mental letdown as much as the simple wear and tear of a full season, especially when we have only a 8-9 man rotation.

In football or basketball.

Fitz needs a lesson on throat-stepping-on from Collins. We didn't just step on Ioa's throat. We ground our foot in and crushed their larynx. We finished the game with a 33-7 run. I want to see beat downs like this in football. And SeattleCat, this is why we kept BMac in. To utterly eviscerate the opponent, destroy his morale, ruin him for the rest of the season and seasons to come, and hear the lamentations of their women.

Some of you may love last second cardiac cats wins. But, I revel in and prefer epic beatdowns of hated opponents. I hope we can show no mercy on the court or field. My only complaint is that we didn't go for a last shot to win by 38. I hope we can win like this every time we step on a hardwood court or a grass field.

I actually feel the opposite (which feels weird when factoring in the loses of Falzon and Rap).

Many teams use an eight man rotation once conference season begins. The versatility of Law, Lindsey, Lumpkin and Taphorn give the Collins so many line up combinations while the contributions we've seen from Brown and Ash have actually allowed BMac to get meaningful in game rest. The days of guys like Juice having to play 35+ mins night in and out seem to be over.

It's a brave new world.

Doing the double dip tomorrow....Loyola at 3,,,,,quick beer at Brunos hop on the L and up to hopefully to make fun of my Hawkeye son-in-law.
He looked so forlorn and whipped, plus my daughter has domesticated the poor soul that I didnt have the heart to say a thing....and the Cats kind a did it for me.

I thought NU had kept the starters in so long to go for 100. When Hall came in, it was apparent the dream was no longer alive.

Hey LoyolaCat!!

Help a brutha next year and post those doubleheaders as soon as you know them. I know I should look myself but I bet I'd forget next August when schedules are posted.

That's a great excuse to get over to Sheridan Rd where some of my hoops education took place.
