Iowa vs Northwestern for the BIG West Championship

You are now dead to me.

Sorry, but we both play @ Wisconsin which is an incredibly tough place to win. Not saying it won't happen, but it's not likely. It is amazing how all three teams managed to avoid MSU and OSU this year.

Shall we start talking about what the 3 way tiebreaker would be if NU, Iowa, and Wiscy are all 7-1 in the Big Ten, having all lost to each other?

I hate Wisconsin. But yeah, they have a very favorable schedule. The crossovers are very manageable and they do get Iowa and NU at home. I was giving IL credit until I saw what UNC did to them. They are fools gold, and I have bought them one to many times. Never again.

So that leaves Minnesota and Nebraska. And I am not really sure how good or bad either team is at the moment. Minnesota barely hangs on, then Nebraska comes storming back to almost win. This is going to be interesting.

I hope its either Iowa or NU.

The 3-way tiebreaker would eliminate Wiscy, because of their loss to Alabama, and the Iowa-NU winner would go to Indy.

Actually, that's not true. Before overall winning percentage is this gem:

"The highest ranked team in the first College Football Playoff poll following the completion of Big Ten regular season conference play shall be the representative in the Big Ten Championship Game, unless the two highest ranked tied teams are ranked within one spot of each other in the College Football Playoff poll. In this case, the head-to-head results of the top two ranked tied teams shall determine the representative in the Big Ten Championship Game."

What, then, does this mean: "1. The records of the three tied teams will be compared against each other."

I've always found that very poorly worded, but it means the record if you only look at the games they played against each other. It's really only applicable if you get to a 2 loss scenario where they're all 6-2, because if Northwestern beat Wisconsin, Wisconsin beat Iowa, and Iowa beat Northwestern, and that was each of these teams' only loss, they'd all be 1-1 in this tiebreaker.

But say, NU and Iowa both lose to Nebraska, but NU beat both Iowa and Wisconsin, and Wisconsin beat Iowa but lost to say Minnesota then each of these teams would be 6-2 (and let's assume Nebraska and Minnesota were only 5-3 so not part of this tiebreaker).

In this case, NU would be 2-0 against Wisconsin and Iowa, Wisconsin would be 1-1, and Iowa would be 0-2. NU would go.

Villox, i appreciate the time you spend bringing out very good points and information often, including under this post. Very interesting how this could shake out.

Sidenote, this also means that Divisional games are more important! Not only because they contribute a loss toward another potential contender for the division title, but because they're used as the second and third tiebreaker. In a 5-3 scenario, which is very possible, you want those losses to be to Michigan or Penn State more than you want them to say, Purdue or Illinois (and not just because a loss to either would be horrible).

No, we shan't. Neither Io-a nor _isconsin can score on this NU defense.
