Is it too early to talk about Walker and Jackson as Heisman Candidates?

Walker looks like a little Fitz out there. Jackson is doing well but LSU and Georgia have insanely good running backs. Still, I think both guys have a shot.

To be fair Walker's stats are on pace to be similar to Manti Te'o when he was second in the heisman. Walker just needs a few more ints.
Manti Teo through his first 3 games in 2012 had 28 tackles, no sacks, two pass deflections, no sacks and one int.
Walker through his first 3 games in 2015 has 36 tackles (16 individual, 20 assisted), .5 sacks, two pass deflections, one fumble recovery, and no ints.

Does Walker have a girlfriend that exists?

But when was the last guy on D to get the trophy? Walker may be good but he is likely not at a level that gets that kind of recognition. Not this year anyway.
JJ again not this year. HE needs a better OL and also needs to break a few long ones.

Last guy was Woodson, but he played both ways. However, for a pure defensive player, probably Suh from Nebraska was the closest. The problem is that the Heisman has turned into a QB/running back award when, in fact, some on the defensive side would be just as deserving (but they have NO STATS TO POIBNT TO).

This guy finished 9th for the Heisman vote in 1979. For all the talk about The Rock's football career, who would've figured that he was the 3rd best defensive football player in wrestling stable The Nation of Domination behind Ron Simmons aka Faarooq and Anthony Norris aka Ahmed Johnson.

Wow.... Heisman talk?? I was just thinking after Walker won his second BiG Defensive Player of the Week Award that he might be a candidate for first-team All BiG at MLB. I'd be thrilled with that.

Walker doesn't even lead the conference in tackles (Riley Bullough does). He is also a linebacker, a rare Heisman breed. JJ has a low yards per carry. Not even remotely in the cards.

Yes, neither guy is getting it. I just hope they are both All B1G 1st team.

Walker is the best player on an undefeated team,in a power five conference! The team he is on leads the nation in scoring defense. If all of these feats exist in December, Walker will be a front runner! As far as JJ goes, take a look at the LSU running back! Guy is a monster truck averaging 190 yards per game. The Georgia QB is excellent also.

Northwestern doesn't have the athletic media machine or influence to make it happen -- so it's sort of a mute question. I'm really happy that when games end in Evanston a final score actually gets posted on a wire service in a timely fashion.

And it likely would have had to start last year. This year is too late. If we ran the table and, and, and, maybe but that is a long way off. Walker woul also need at least 6 or more INTs with 4 or more taken in for scores and a few fumbles caused and recovered as well

Well then let's just start the Tommy Vitalented campaign NOW!

I feel like NU should
a) Start a WalkerStrong campaign
b) Give him a catchy nickname (AWalk? Catchy!)
c) Get him in goal line sets on offense
d) Always give him the ball when he's in

Heisman!

Some of you sound like tsun fans awarding September Heisman awards. Three games in and someone is asking if he could win a Heisman? Wow.
