ESPN seems to think so. They predict that the ballcarrier might be a likely veteran cut from the Chargers this year. I sure hope not.

Los Angeles Chargers

Veteran in danger: Justin Jackson, RB

Why he could get cut: I can't see the Chargers keeping four running backs. Austin Ekeler and Joshua Kelley appear to be safe, and they just drafted Larry Rountree out of Missouri in the sixth round. So one has to go, and I think it could be Jackson, who is entering his fourth season. Rountree has massive thighs, a good thing for a running back, and he will fit in nicely as a third back. Ekeler is fully healthy and Kelley is really fast and showed potential as a rookie last season. -- Shelley Smith

And another Cat...

New Orleans Saints

Veteran in danger: Trevor Siemian, QB

Why he could get cut: The Saints essentially released every "bubble" veteran on the roster already while shedding more than $100 million in cap space this offseason. So I'll go with an under-the-radar long shot who could sneak his way onto the roster instead. Siemian, 29, quietly has 13 career wins, and Sean Payton has talked him up a couple times this offseason. Although he isn't likely to push Jameis Winston or Taysom Hill for the starting job, he could stick around if New Orleans wants to keep using Hill in a versatile role and doesn't think rookie Ian Book is ready to be the No. 2. -- Mike Triplett

Rountree's "massive thighs" might just be the thing that spells doom for JJ's tenure in San Diego.

I watched Rountree a bit about Mizzou, and he was a good player. I think he can stick.

Would love to see JJ here in Chicago. He can play in the NFL.
Motion seconded.

JJ was as durable a RB at NU as you could have hoped for. Unfortunately ,he has had a variety of nuisance injuries in the NFL that have limited his availability and effectiveness-somewhat ironic

I think the change in the HC and coaching staff could have an impact on Jackson’s chances of sticking with the Chargers. As mentioned injuries have really hampered opportunities for him to gets reps, esp. when things opened up with major injuries to other rb’s like Ekeler.

As an aside, there is a serious challenge by a Spanos family heir who has mounted a lawsuit to have the team sold in the face of mounting debt and heavy loan obligations, some involving payment to other NFL owners for allowing the franchise to move from San Diego to LA. The Spanos family have been compared to Larry Sterling of Clippers “fame” as grossly inept. It will be interesting how this family infighting will be resolved, if the NFL backs the opportunity to get rid of an inept owner with close ties to the NFL. I don’t see the Chargers being a successful franchise in LA, at least with the Spanos family in charge. I would think there would be a lot of interest by other potential bidders for a buyout with LA connections that could be successful.

The Hartford Chargers!!

Danger is a relative term. If the Chargers cut JJTBC, he’ll land somewhere else quickly.

JJtBC may actually be in little more danger.

Not that the Chargers don't like him, but with Ekeler and Jackson - they have 2 injury prone RBs and may want to cut that no. down to one.

If that happens, Justin should have little trouble finding another landing spot.

Payton likes Trevor.

This decision may come down to whether they see Hill as a starting QB, or whether they can stash Book on the PS.
