I'm new to this community, but probably as baffled as everyone else that Jordan Ash continues to play, give us close to nothing, and IB still rides pine. Ash brings close to nothing IMO, and each game I get more frustrated to see him get PT. Anyone have info or source close to team on what he did? He's the only player who can break down the other teams guard at will, it makes no sense..

I'm disappointed in whatever the Brown situation is (most of us should know by now). That said, it's strange to me how suddenly we NEED him so badly now that he's not playing. Beforehand, the general consensus was he's really struggling, makes poor choices, and always gets his shots blocked. Amazing how that changes when the guy suddenly isn't playing at all.

BTW, we've won 3 out of the last 4. Not so bad.

It's been a decent stretch, but my god maybe play him Monday? How about Ohio State game? Jordan Ash's numbers and his impact on the team from advanced metrics speak for themselves

I don’t know why Brown is not playing. He wouldnt have seven turnovers and shoot 2-8 like Mac did. My guess is he is upset about playing time. I think Brown deserves 15-20 minutes a game. I think Collins likes the bigger guys, Skelly and Falzon.

Brown should get double digit minutes easily... this team struggles so badly to score on a consistent basis. Bmac has not penetrated as effectively and consistently as he did last year it feels like.

I don't think we need IB to be a savior or anything, and he probably led the team in shots blocked last year, but it seems weird that his situation - whatever it is - precludes him from just being a change-of-pace guy for a few minutes or when B-Mac needs a rest.

Teams have started manning up B Mac with 2's and it's killed his ability to get his floater off in the lane, and they're also hard hedging the shit out of ball screens with a 7 footer and a 6'6'' wing. B Mac can't hit the slip and when he does, Pardon can't do anything with a pick and pop. Basically they're just passing the ball around the arc until they can get Pardon a touch since they have nobody who can consistently get to the basket

If anybody has a clue what's with Brown, please tell us.

It's clear CCC isn't gonna play him.

Great analysis for Mac and his poor shooting this year( tied with Ash statistical wise)! But what is your excuse for his conference leading, eye popping, game losing,57 turnovers? Just asking? Cuz Ash only has 13!

Exactly. We have started winning with him not playing

Ash has only 13 because he has only been in a few minutes a game. BMac is in about 35 per game

Mac also has 125 assists, for an assist-to-turnover ratio of 2.19.

Ash has a whopping 17 assists against his 13 turnovers, for an assist-to-turnover ration of 1.31.

I think Mac's stats are impressive given just how poorly the rest of the team seems to be at scoring. Mac distributes the ball and makes everybody better. Yeah, he takes some risks, and last night some of the risks didn't pay off, but on the whole they do. And even last night he still had 4 assists. High-risk-high-reward, and we're going to need Mac to take those chances if we're to have a chance against Michigan. There's much more to a point guard than his shooting, and nobody else on the team right now can give us what Mac does.

I'll give you one guess

1. He blew off a practice saying he was sick but was watching the Kardasians
2. Some sorta thing happened between him an one other player.
3. something related to academic
4. Ash is playing since Collins decided to go with an alphabetical lineup (Falzon over Skelly, Ash over Brown)

It's one of those 4 but you can only pick 1

Exactly. We have started winning with him not playing
Ash was in for about 8 of the 20 minutes in the first half. All told, the wildcats gained three more points than Wisconsin while Ash was in there. Certainly gave good minutes. He was put in late in second half and gave good defense then. All told, continued solid play as a backup to Mac as the Cats have resurfaced as a playoff contender with Ash backing up Mac since the Ohio State game. Collins like the defense of Ash, so likely, Brown will ride the pine next year again as Lathon will start or backup Ash. Likely serve as a backup as Ash knows the offense well.

The statistic you never talk about is assists. Ash is simply not a playmaker and majority of his minutes are spent trying not to turn the ball over. The difference in assists is probably worth min 8-10 ppg to the team.

Not to mention positive effect of making team mates look better.

Didn't Brown start the season with a deep thigh injury? maybe that is lingering some how and he just hasn't gotten his legs back under him. Since personal injuries are not public knowledge it would explain the lack of information with out all the speculation drama of being in the dog house etc.

I think Ash is the best passer on the team. Plus,he doesn't turn the ball over. I would start him over Mac vs Michigan

Well, when asked Collins said he wasn't injured. And Collins DID say that he had the deep thigh bruise so when asked he has spoken about injuries......

Dang! This Brown kid has got to be good. Hasn't played in six games, except for four minutes of garbage time, yet he is our teams savior? Not! Ash is a gritty defensive specialist who rarely turns the ball over. Collins is starting to trust him more. Collins has put the writing on the wall. Next year it will be Jordan Ash bringing up the ball for NU. It will be my finest hour as a poster as I will be vindicated for all the wrath I have received for my advocacy of the Truth!

With all due respect, nobody is saying he's the savior. I think most fans recognize he has an ability to score rhat Jordan Ash does not. Jordan Ash has done close to nothing recently, the team struggles to score, and IB could provide a spark. That's about it.

How so? Ash is a career 33 percent shooter. Brown is 23 percent

Who cares about career? Brown is shooting 10% better this year, on 0.7 shots more per game. He also has an offensive rating that is about 8 points higher than ash as well. Ash averages 2 points and one rebound a game. 0 points and 1 turnover with 0 assists in 8 minutes Thursday. 12 minutes Monday, 0 points 0 assists 1 turnover again. What the heck is he doing to earn playing time? He's terrible.

Ash will be the starting point guard for next year

Word of advice... don't bother getting into a serious discussion with Wrestler about Jordan Ash. He has this whole performance art thing going on here about his so-called love for Jordan Ash that most of us have learned to (often literally) ignore.

Do you have some kind of deal where you get paid by the post by someone?
Nope! I just search for the truth! I’m like Thor! If you throw BS out there,I’ll throw the truth out twice as strong with stats! You might as well as have a thread for Malnati! Both are bench warmers!

Most of us wish he would just go away.

Hey, IB, shouldn’t you be practicing?
