My little birdie friend (not the grunting woman in the videos) tells me of some goings on at Wildcat camp. Here are some tidbits:
There is a competition at QB between Hilinski and Sullivan. They are trading off days at QB1. Hilinski might have the edge at the moment. He has looked really sharp at times. Sully has a tendency to be a run-first guy. That's his strength.
Hull and Porter are on the field together all the time. They are like peas in a pod. Hull is lining up everywhere, including the slot. Hull is working as a return man, too. It is not a bad role for a one-cut type of runner like Hull. With Porter back, he can handle the load.
Cam Porter looks fully recovered from his ACL tear (except for the little scars, which only his girlfriend gets to see)
There will be a lot of looks with 22 personnel (2 RBs and 2 TEs). But the third WR competition is down to GHP, Big Play Ray Niro and transfer Donny Navarro. Navarro has a good connection with Hilinski and has made some plays so far. Navarro says he hates Illini orange.
It looks like the starting safeties will be Coco and Heard, but there is a battle going for safety next to Coco in a 4-2-5 when Heard moves to Star. Jeremiah Lewis and Jaheem Joseph are both getting work with the 1s in that spot.
Who would you Wrather play center?
