It's GOTTA Be the Shoes....

Thank "Doctor James Phillips" for doing NOTHING about this.

You're all right. The shoes are as likely as anything. We might as well be wearing Levi's or North Face or Docker's shoes...

Link to UA sneakers being unsafe or causing more injuries than other sneakers? Or to sneaker usage causing stress fractures? Or to anything factual that will support your opinion in this regard in any way?

Both UA and Adidas have set up footwear design studios in and around Portland. Both companies have poached Nike designers. UA has the former Jordan brand designer.

I wasn't either when I brought it up like 2 years ago. Then I got berated for being stupid
I had your back Shakes. If the team doesn't have a pediatrist fitting these guys shoes it's just a shame. A) Their feet are really big and sometimes weird. B) They are doing things physically that put incredible stress on their feet all the time. Each player should have custom fitted shoes especially in BB.

The UA list of basketball endorsers is all backcourt players, if that means anything. Steph Curry, Brandon Jennings, Greivis Vazquez, and Emmanual Mudiay are the guys listed on their site.

After switching to Under Armour, it appears that our injuries rose for a 2 year stretch in stretch in football in 2013 and 2014 (we also had a different strength and conditioning coach). 2012 and and 2015 were pretty healthy years. Notre Dame has had a ton of injury issues in football after switching to Under Armour.

The problem with determining what shoes are unsafe is it's difficult to do a study on an ethical basis. You can't give people shoes that you hypothesize are unsafe and compare their injuries to a control group. The closest thing that they've done (found the study years ago, but can't find it now) is they took a bunch of high school football player's shoes, put them on robot feet, did a bunch of tests, gave the shoes back, and asked the kids to report injuries. There are 2 types of traction. The first is straight. They found that there is no difference in injuries based off of straight traction. The second is twisting. They found shoes with a lot of twisting traction created knee problems ie your knee is twisting, but your feet staying still. Where does Under Armour fall into that? I don't know. I do think that the study shows that it COULD be related to the shoes.

Interesting. Our injuries in football this year have been to the oline ie the biggest guys on the team. Again, there is nothing more the speculation. I also find it interesting that there have been 7 teams going to the NCAA "playoff" (Alabama went twice). All of them are Nike schools (Nike represents 68 of the 128 schools).
