Call me old fashioned but I hate to see kids leave their hometown and the guys they grew up playing with for one of these basketball factories.

I get that, and I have no idea what Lathon's situation is, but sometimes the guys you grew up with are not the best influence.

Well, get used to it. It's already happening with kids like this leaving their hometown for Evanston and NU.

That is one of many variables and sometimes I wonder if it hurts us with local guys occasionally.
It is a ever changing competitive situation. I think in the long run, I'm glad we are picking up some of these guys. Good for their development and adds buzz and reputation for NU.

Anyone know how good IMG is in hoops? Are they anything like IMG is in football?
A couple seconds on Google revealed they are pretty good:

PROGRAM ACCOMPLISHMENTS
  • 3 alumni selected in the NBA Draft since 2014
  • 13 alumni competed in the 2016 NCAA Tournament
  • 89 D-I commitments since 2012
  • National varsity team ranked as high as #3 nationally in 2016
  • Record breaking season in 2017 finishing #10 in the country
  • Participated in 2017 DICK'S High School Nationals Tournament

Their point guard last year was five-star Trevon Duval, the No. 5 player in the country for 2017 who signed with Duke. So Jordan has some big sneakers to fill.

It's great to have connections to places like IMG and Brewster, who, in general, seem to have a handful of top recruits each year and appear to be academically-inclined.

Side note: if Collins lands Kopp or Bey with the final 2018 spot, he will have quite the geographic footprint. Missouri/Florida, Ohio, Pennsylvania/New Jersey, and then either DC or Texas? Very impressive.

Chris must not have gotten the "Home Grown" memo.....;)

Or he ripped it up and shat on it, because he understands that we must go after the national pool of recruits that qualify for NU, since the number of Chicagoland recruits that we should be going after each year is somewhere on average between the numbers zero and two.

Seem to remember a NU coach, say, but he'll miss the prom.
