Well we all knew it was happening after NU offered Aidan Smith, but this QB class has to be a disappointment for NU. After top target Deuce Wallace decommitted, NU failed to get their next two options Anthony Brown and Jackson, losing out to BC and VaTech respectively.

I suppose the "life after football" argument or our title of being the recent "QB U" of the BIG wasn't enough for him. Josh, have fun in Blacksburg, and best of luck!

Though he was the 4th choice of our coaches, I love Aidan Smith and think he will develop into a very good QB.

Great way to slam our recent QB recruit, especially one who ranks higher than any of the other QB prospects. Good job!!

I don't think it is a disappointment at all. It is true that Smith was our 4th choice and maybe some of us would have felt better about it if he was in our first group, but would it have made much difference in the eventually outcome? Doubt it but some would feel better about it.

What I like about Smith is he seems to have taken the most steps in improving his game of the 4. He has held his own in a camp setting with top guys including out misses. I for one am very pleased to have him.

Deuce's commit might have cost us Jackson, who appeared to be a NU lean. At the end of the day, it might be a blessing in disguise. Ask knowledgable people which of the 4 they prefer and you'll probably get a lot of different answers. I would not be shocked at all if Smith turned out to be the best of all of them. It will be an interesting discussion 4-5 years from now.

I don't think that Aidan Smith is a drop-off from Deuce Wallace at all. In fact I think they are very similar talent-wise. In fact, at the recent Rivals QB challenge finals in Baltimore, Smith finished 4th and Wallace 5th.

Jackson is a nice prospect with solid mechanics, arm strength, and some running skills. But I have a hard time seeing how he should rate higher than Smith (for all effective purposes, their ratings are the same). Both are 6'2". Jackson reportedly ran a 4.4, while Smith's HUDL-reported time is 4.6. But I almost think that Smith has quicker feet and more wiggle. Based on junior film, I think Smith's arm might be a tad stronger, though both player's arms are sufficient.

Hard to be disappointed with Smith in the fold.

Help me feel better SciCat, where is it noted that Smith ranks higher then Wallace, Jackson and Brown?

For starters I know that scout has Smith ranked higher than Jackson

Here are the Scout QB rankings:
Smith 31
Jackson 39
Brown 46
Wallace 86
Hopefully you now feel better Willycat.

I think the only thing that will help Willycat feel better is if NU paves the west lot and follows it up with groundbreaking on the new facility, followed by a new basketball arena.

I'll take the new facility and the new BB arena and just bring my water wings to the west lot.

None of the four recruited QBs have played a down of college football yet. I'm not judging whether this has been a success or failure until they do. Thorson and Alviti were both four-star recruits, and the jury is still out on them until we see them in action this year.

While the recruited QBs aren't exactly grizzled veterans, this is not true.
