Great kid. He had a lot of great things to say about NU, as you'd imagine. Here's how his commitment went down. Brown committed first. Coach Long had promised Kent that he'd be the first prospect he'd call if a DE committed, so that is what he did. Kent got the call, thought about it and talked to his family and called back to pull the trigger 30 minutes later. He said he was planning to commit later this week so this just accelerated his timetable a little bit.
I asked whether he'd ever thought he'd be a Wildcat when the recruiting process started, and he said no way. NU was his first offer in September. He said he saw them beat Stanford but didn't even know where NU was. But in doing research and talking to Long, he felt like he wanted to commit before he ever set foot on campus last week. So that visit sealed the deal.
Yesterday was a helluva day to be an NU fan, boys.
