Anyone know why he did not play in 2nd exhibition game for Vikes? He was not on the injured list. Does this mean he has the #2 locked up? and the other two were fighting for 3rd . It seems that he performs well in all the camps he has been in....So what is holding him back?

Arm strength. Keeps him from throwing long out routes. Additionally, it lets the defense jump a slant route. I'll always be a fan, but he's not one of the 48 best QBs in the world.

Out of curiosity, what is the significance to 48? Aren't there 32 NFL teams, each of which carry 2 QBs on the active roster? If he isn't top 48, perhaps he is top 64..........

Top 48 means I don't think he's in the top 50% of back up quarterbacks. In other words, a team that has him as the back up QB is probably looking to find a better one.

So he's out? I don't get that given his first game performance. He did what was needed. Makes no sense, especially if it is arm strength given that they didn't even ask him to throw many slants or long balls to show that he doesn't have that weakness… The other thing I don't get is that the announcers were saying he'd be a solid backup to TB.

Edit: looks like Shakes is right - he's fighting for the #3 spot according to Scout.com, even though he had the highest passer rating after week 1: http://www.buccaneers.com/news/arti...-Vikings/bad68225-3c92-48e2-85cb-de8e609e948f
