My money is on Demps
I agree. I think the key to this season is going to be whether Tre Demps goes from just being a last minute shot hitting freak to an all-game, consistent weapon that teams have to plan to stop.

I think Demps may be the best player and the key to success. But I don't see him as a vocal leader. He seems very quiet and reserved. Alex on the other hand acts like he wants to lead. Whether or not he does, and whether or not his teammates follow, remains to be seen.

Leadership doesn't have to be purely vocal. Demps will be the go to guy and the guy whom we will ride. Like Jordan was for the Bulls, Stephen Curry for the GSW. I think the camp he went to with all the NBA people will pay dividends towards theC's hope.

You may be right. But Jordan was the epitome of a leader. He was a ball buster of the first degree, cutting players who didn't meet his expectations to shreds. He made players better through his pressure. I doubt Tre is anything like that. BTW, I recommend David Halberstam's book "Playing for Keeps" on Jordan and the NBA. Excellent tome.

whether or not his teammates follow
That is an interesting dynamic in leadership. Some people have a natural ability to draw people along. Others can have all the right attitude and make less impact.

I'm a lot more concerned about leadership on the court than in the locker room. Leadership on the court has to involve the point guard above all. Given CC's comments about, it would be a great boost if all three of our point/combo guards can step up and do a good job of running the offense and finding the key passes. Defensive leadership is more about intensity. I can still see a place for Sanjay in the rotation as a defensive leader. Jordan Ash said he sees an early role guarding the other teams top guard, which is great news if he can do that.

We have a strong coach and a smart crew of players. I'm not worried about any one person having to shoulder the leadership role off the court. We'll be OK.
