As I mentioned in a game thread, with about 13 minutes left Collins tried to get some extra rest for Mac and Pardon by combining about a minute off the court with the upcoming under 12 timeout.

Lumpkin was already sitting with 3 fouls.

On the court: Ash Benson Skelly Law and Lumpkin. Lead dropped from 7 to 1 with two consecutive Gopher 3-pointers. Collins calls timeout, but the Gophers were on their way.

I thought the exact same thing. Like Collins was trying to buy some time and maybe steal one there. No such luck, the lead dramatically changed within a couple minutes really. That would've been a GREAT time to put Brown back in after a very sloppy first half for him in which he didn't even take a shot. Instead, Collins rode Ash but that was not productive.

I'm not blaming Ash in particular at all. Having all three of those starters off the court at the very same time was just something that would have been nice, had it worked.

Well, he bricked/airballed a 3 and didn't do anything special on D during that stretch so just thinking going for the aggressive scoring option in Brown then would'be been interesting. The proverbial "put the pedal down" mentality as opposed to just treading water so to speak.

Unfortunately, when Brown puts the metal down this year, he often wrecks the car attempting drives that worked for him in HS against D1 college competition. This year is a learning year for him regarding what he can get away with and what he can't

Good analogy. But I like his aggressiveness nonetheless and I think maybe he could've given us some much needed O while we were flailing in the 2nd half.

BS thread! Ash is our best defensive player.Ash played well. We left too many Manny shooters wide open. We were 1-15 from three point land in second half! Plus,we had lots of turnovers. Smelly was 1-8,Law and Linsey 4-12!
