...considering we shot 2-20(!!!) from three-point range. Terrible. Won't win any games shooting that poorly from deep. This team worked really hard in that 2nd half to find a way back into the game, but without a three-point shot, you can't do it.

I can live with this game. I thought more than a couple of our guys had off nights and we won the second half and only lost by dozen (bakers). I also think we played a top 5 team that has the talent, depth and guard play to win it all. This is a very acceptable second loss for the year.

On thee topic of thee dead horse, Mac looked beyond gassed when he hit the bench. Played nearly the whole game - kinda had to...

Agree with all of this. Some good takeaways.

1) Don't believe that it is coincidence that in Pardon's first full two games that we smoked a good rebounding team on the glass and outrebounded an excellent rebounding team.
2) Falzon impressed me with his ability to drive to the basket. This should pay dividends when opponents have to respect both this and his ability to hit the 3.
3) Though JVZ looked as comfortable on the court as I have seen him all season. Hopefully he will continue to improve as the season progresses.

I gotta disagree on this one. I'm glad we saw him finally be aggressive to the basket, but I thought, "Oh, that's why we haven't seen this." I thought he looked tentative, out of control and not very polished on several of those drives. Those double-pumps really limit any size advantage.

But then again, he is a freshman.

Agreed, but he looked at lot better at it than say, Tap, and his aggressiveness got him to the line 8 times. And both have the same issue, they need to add that to their game in order to create more opps for the 3, imo.

Also kept trying to drive the middle in the first half and consistently got shots swatted away by the Maryland trees underneath. That helped get us into an early hole as several of those aborted drives led to breakout baskets for Maryland. Dakich had it right when he said some of our players need to discover the 15-foot jump shot once they penetrate the first line of defense. We aren't the only team guilty of that as it's become something of a lost art in college BB.

Totally agree. The short jumper, anything in the 5 to 15 foot range, is not a big part of the offense anymore in college hoops. Too often we get guys dribbling in to the trees hoping to get fouled as they lunge toward the basket. Two possible bad results there: blocked shot or charging call.
Stop and pop, for crying out loud. It's really not that complicated a skill set.
