Ladies take down Buttgers for first conference road win!

I thought they were going to go 0-fer this season, but it feels good to get a couple of wins under the belt.

Amazing how far Rutgers has fallen since they were a national power under C. Vivian Stringer.

What impressed me was how the Cats took a big lead (at or near 20 pts) and saw it fall away. With about 3 min left it seemed certain that Rutgers would win. But then they started missing shots and NU really dominated on the boards and with clean defense. Impressive.

I appreciated how Lau had a terrible shooting night, but still killed it on the assists. Her drive and dish to Williams was a thing of beauty.

The things that really stood out for me was
1) both teams sucked at the FT line
2) the Cats took great care of the ball
3) the Cats had at least four players in double figures

I think I had mentioned this back in December, but our conference schedule was even more frontloaded for the women than for the men. Per Torvik, our first 12 scheduled conference games this year were against teams in the top-50 (including the rescheduled USC/UCLA games), and we went 0-10 against that slate. 4 of our last 6 conference games were against teams outside of the top-50, and so far we're 2-1. The conference is simply loaded this year, especially with the expansion teams.

For what it's worth, we covered the predicted spread in 7 of those first 10 games...
