From the Stanford Game Notes:

"Northwestern University is in the early stages of construction of a major complex for athletic and recreational activities on the north end of its main Evanston campus. A large indoor multipurpose facility will provide room for major events, such as the University's annual new student convocation; indoor practice and a competition venue for intercollegiate sports; and space for recreation, club sports and intramurals. NU has already raised more than $170 million in support of the project."

Speculation that all funding is in hand appears to be incorrect........and Turk, there is a nice picture of the latest version of the facility!

The game notes were a nice read. Hard to find the links on the page though. As far as the Lakeside complex, great! A picture shows progress regarding the permits. Hopefully, the next 'shove in the ground' statements [insert around renewal time] has teeth. I've been saying all long since 2011 when they said the complex would be complete by 2014 that it was fairy tale. My position hasn't changed, based on some comments from key people, I never expected this to be built and ready until Fall 2016. But maybe that is too premature, dunno because that would mean in about 12 months. Could be 2017+ if there are no construction delays.

I think permits won't be complete in till the end of the year, which means shovels in the ground in the spring of 2016 and completion early 2018. It will happen, just be patient.

I agree and I understand Phillips using it for the annual season ticket plug as well. It's just silly when some fans get all flustered when myself or others tell the boys that this puppy is a far away yet. As a cat fan, I think this is the way to go though, i.e., a practice facility over a new stadium or a botoxed one. TCU and Baylor dropped less money on a brand new stadium which is 'wow'. But as a player, I would think they would rather have a wonderful practice facility where they spend hundreds of days close to campus, over an upgraded place where they only spend 25 days during their entire career.

Do you have the link?

University of Georgia announced yesterday that they'll be building a $30 million facility. Smaller scope, but shovels in the ground this year for definite completion in 2017. They're leaving open the possibility of ready in time for 2016, though that seems grotesquely optimistic.

Building on the lake and in Evanston clearly sucks. The comparison is amazing, isn't it?

Am I missing Matt Harris in the career starts chart on page #4?

I'm pretty sure it's the permits with the state that are the issue.

Yeah, you can probably build something quickly and for cheap in Georgia, but then you'd be in Georgia.

But she's also in Georgia.... so it doesn't really sound that bad.

Shakes, for some reason this is the girl I picture you dating. Interesting that you selected a photo of the exact girl I was intending to fix you up with.

Shakes, that girl looks like she could beat you up and you would scream.
"Please don't. Stop! Please don't. Stop!
Please don't stop."

Oh man, you haven't gone through winter until you've gone through it without a scraper. For a few years I pretended like I missed the nostalgia of a white Christmas ... And then I got real and embraced the idea that life was nice without three months of misery.

On the downside, lots of racism and evangelicals, though. They're equally bad, in a way.

I would miss the different seasons. [fingers in ears] I don't want to hear anything else. I would miss the seasons! :)
