Interesting tidbit in this week's Evanston Review. In the city of Evanston's budget report, they had been planning on receiving 3-million revenue this fall from NU for the permit to build the new football facility. Now, they say they expect to issue the permit next spring "due to the lengthy process of approval from the US Army Corps of Engineers." So, hopefully, we'll have shovels in the ground in the spring?

Thanks for the update. $3M for the city for the permit? That should help town-gown relations! And spring for shovels in the ground has been my guess all along. They are about out of time now to let contracts before winter sets in.

This is old news. In my article, "The Fake on the Lake" I pointed out how the pictures of the back of the building were removed from all NU sites, and that after 3 years nothing was approved and that nothing was really anticipated to be approved for another extended time. The board 'insiders' moved quickly against me and stood behind Phillips' "facility plug' right before season tickets were announced for the 3rd year in a row. The reality is that most people on this board and elsewhere simply do not know how to read or think for themselves, so they believe bull crap and I have to be the bad guy speaking the truth which always seems to offend those in make believe land.

That said, YES, FINALLY!!!! I can now say that it is correct that the shovel will be placed in the ground in mid to late 2016 although I think springtime is still too soon. I have heard that the process is slowly moving but that it is now more in sight. And the final plans are NOT the same complex seen in the original beautiful make believe picture.

I'm glad we all have you to think for us!

Most likely they would want to get started first thing in the Spring to take advantage of more construction season. That said, $3 million for a permit? And just to the city?

I honestly hear "shovel in the ground" so often that I'm thinking the next time I'm in Evanston I'll just bring my own shovel and start digging.

lol. Maybe Willcat was right. I believe he made the statement that they can't even get a shovel in the west parking lot, let alone a previously monstrous facility that has now been truncated in size.

.

Tell us again about our flat earth, lack of gravity, and the time you "thought for yourself" and allowed some guy to steal your lunch at a drive-thru fast food place right out from under you.

Of course, but that's not what I heard late last year. I think they will be ecstatic with a shovel in the ground and two birds in the hand sometime by August 2016. IMO, an announcement immediately prior to the 2016 kickoff. That's what I said 6 months ago and got reamed out by the stupid people on this board who claimed the announcement was going to be made immediately prior to the Stanford game. You can go back and search the site for my article "The Fake on the Lake" that spelled out what the university timetable was without 'outing' any insiders. And, yes, I fully expect Phillips to make another "Shovel in the Ground" press release immediately prior to 2016 season ticket renewals, and that's his job to sell tickets so don't be upset with the 4th shovel in the ground announcement then. I'll let everyone know when there is 'real' updated info though. I'm NOT an insider but I now insiders and they are friendly to me.

At any rate, I got thick skin. When I was told they had to remove the picture off of all of its websites and that the real date is most likely mid to late 2016, stupid people on here couldn't handle it.
And the pic of the back end of the facility still will not be posted until final plans are approved. The facility is truly going to be beautiful but in truncated form as opposed to the collosalness of the first drawing. Rest assured, the football side of it is still in tact though and any of our present recruits will MOST DEFINATLEY be practicing in it prior to them graduating. So for the toto birds who claim this delay or any mention of delay will affect our recruiting....IT HASN"T and won't. Good grief!

Told, eh? Because you're such an insider, the Athletic Department makes special dispensation to tell you what's going on?

I never claim to be the smartest guy and it was pretty stupid to have my lunch stolen at a fast food drive thru. I'm surprised you remember that. About gravity, Mr Roberts defies it. The kid is only like 4'10 but leaps like a frog. Gravity doesn't have a hold on him. Enjoy Pymatuning Glades? I heard you are up that way. I bet you can walk on water up there and appear to defy gravity by walking on the backs of all of those carp up there. I hope you enjoy a beer with No Chores.

Haven't been to Pymatuning yet. Will be hoisting a few with No Chores this afternoon after a good ride through Presque Isle State Park. Doing a float trip down the Alleghany this weekend.

The Waterboy clearing 6'5" is defying gravity. Gravity has been winning lately, though. Where is that gravity defying dude anyway?

I hope The Waterboy is doing well. He has been a no contact. Not sure if he is even going to bother going to Duke.

Yeah, but you believe the earth is flat.
