Don't know if people saw, but Lindsey basically guaranteed a win against Iowa on Twitter. There also seems to be a personal tinge to the rivalry for him.

Is this something that was widely known and I missed it, or did Iowa pull its offer on the sly?

From InsideNU:

Scottie Lindsey tweeted on Sunday morning that he had "been waiting a very long time for" the Iowa game, and Chris Collins said following the game that it was "personal" for Lindsey. Lindsey (possibly under instruction from Nick Brilowski, Northwestern's basketball SID) wouldn't comment on why it was personal. But while we don't want to speculate, we can probably connect the dots. Lindsey had a scholarship offer from Iowa, but broke his leg prior to his senior season in high school. When questioned about whether Iowa honored its offer, Lindsey said "no comment," but had a smile on his face.

Mash for Source

Believe the story on this board was that Iowa learned Lindsey was going to sign with NU and so pulled their offer.

He broke his leg after committing.

Some of the Iowa faithful, though, claimed Iowa wasn't interested.

Don't think the injury had anything to do with any hard feelings. But my information is from the internet so take it with a large grain of salt.

I believe he committed in late September and broke his leg while on a visit to Vanderbilt in early September, so I don't think that part checks out.

From the Sun Times: Lindsey's official visits won't change despite the injury. He will visit Nevada the weekend of Sept. 14, followed by an official visit to Iowa on Sept. 21. Lindsey will head to Northwestern Oct. 5 and return to Vanderbilt for an official visit Oct. 19.

Rivals has him committing to us on the 22nd...interesting.

I know for a 100% fact the offer was pulled from a source basically as close as you can be. First call was this source after the offer was pulled (and it was pulled because of the injury)

Not doubting that you weren't told that, but it doesn't make too much sense.

When Lindsey was injured in late Aug/early Sept he was projected to miss two months. Turned out to be longer, believe he played around the holidays, maybe right after.

Why pull an offer over an injury that will have no impact on a kid's college career?

Whereas the offer was rumored to have been pulled a day or two before the NU commit. And, as I remember it, the Iowa fans claimed the offer was pulled and the NU fans were calling that claim b.s. because CC had him lined up.

It doesn't matter. I'm really glad NU got him.

Maybe that's why Lindsey was mad?

Maybe because there was no guarantee he'd come back at the same level and he was a late bloomer in the first place?

Either way

Lindsey was a late bloomer and likely Iowa was counting on his Senior season to help him develop. But the injury potentially limited that additional development. And never know how serious the injury is until the kid gets back on the court. Still, broken leg is not ligaments or something that was likely to affect him for anything much more than a year and Iowa would have him for four to five years after that.

When have we needed a reason around here to hate Iowa?

I liked Collins' take: Lindsey sometimes seems dispassionate but not Sunday (that block and staredown!) ... meaning he has to bring that fire every game now.

If Lindsey can think that every time he has a great game, it's in Iowa's face, he will become a better player.
