I was texting a good friend of mine after the UCLA game, and wanted to post a couple things he sent. He's a sophomore at NU right now, he's an engineering and econ student and probably had never been to a basketball game before this year.

"Yeah, I feel like a lot of people are upset about the loss, but the fact that we played a good game against UCLA and made them sweat is insane given where this program was not long ago. Seeing Chase on fire and Boo pushing through their defense was amazing to watch. I understand if they don't but I really hope they stay on."

"I didn't really care about sports when I was picking schools, but I'm glad I ended up at NU."

"The program's been really energizing and it feels like I've been sucked into the school spirit."

I got texts like this from current students and friends all season long. It's been awesome to see students discover and learn to love basketball through the team this year. If the Wildcats can deliver again in 2023-24, they could be on their way to building something special.

This could be the opposite of those of us that identify with the dark ages. I haven’t really heard anyone talk about being there during the Barnett revolution. I was there again when PF tools the reigns but gone before he tasted coaching success. And during walker, seems like he had raised the program and the expectations but not in a generational fashion. I mean other than the Dark Ages, I don’t hear anything about other paradigm shifting years.

CCC could change that. If he brings NU back to the dance and brings and develops some more talent, he has a pretty nice core group to work with. I can see an NU class defining themselves as being in school when MBB became relevant. That would be much cooler than heralding the days of marshmellows and laking the goalposts for a mediocre win.

I was a junior in the fall of 1995, and it was the best time of my life. Pretty sure I pulled a 1.7 GPA that quarter!

Has the potential to be a legacy defining season... time will tell. It would be nice for the team to follow up this year with another good season with a shot at the dance again.. but as someone mentioned not making the tourney would be understandable.

I think these players really connected with the students in a way the 2017 didn’t. Just an outsider’s view.

We have everything it takes to be a basketball school with a great environment. Small school can still pack out our small arena, students right on top of the action, even helped by lots of students from the NE where basketball is bigger than college football.
