Northwestern’s current roster is flush with running back talent.

Justin Jackson, the leading returning rusher in the Big Ten, still has two years remaining as the star tailback. Senior Warren Long is in the change-of-pace, power back role. Behind Jackson, there is a redshirt sophomore Auston Anderson, redshirt freshman John Moten and incoming freshmen Jesse Brown and Jeremy Larkin.

The only problem Northwestern seems to have is that there’s only one ball.

But the Wildcats want to keep the talent pipeline flowing and land one running back in their 2017 class, a group that is currently ranked 12th in the country with 13 commits.

Right now, Northwestern is waiting to hear from two running back prospects. And if they decide to go elsewhere, they have one waiting in the bullpen on the second tier.

The top two are Bryant Koback and Deon Jackson.

Koback is a Kentucky commit that is considering Northwestern. The three-star back from Holland (Ohio) Springfield received his offer from NU after he committed to UK. He says his commitment is solid, but the last time WR talked to him he was planning to visit Evanston in June.

Jackson is a three-star athlete from Atlanta (Ga.) Pace with an impressive offer list of 16 schools. He is also planning to camp at Florida and Notre Dame this month. WR’s attempts to reach Jackson have been unsuccessful thus far.

If the Wildcats do not land Koback or Jackson, they may very well offer Michael Silva, who performed very well at NU’s camp on Sunday. The 5-foot-9, 180-pounder from Milton (Mass.) Academy ran a 4.45 40-yard dash, according to a source. He has offers from Army, Navy, Lafayette and Holy Cross and is planning to camp at UConn, Purdue and Vanderbilt in June and Harvard in July.
