That's from Fitz at his presser today, per several Twitter reports. Harris broke several bones in his face. Ouch!

How do you break bones in your face while wearing a helmet? Sheesh.

I imagine the helmet must fit pretty snugly and with enough force in the right spot could shatter your cheek bones. But man, that's gotta be one of the more brutal injuries.

He seemed to expose his chin cheek area. Much like taking an uppercut without gloves by a heavyweight. But in this case much more power in a knee driving up. I wish the young man well, i was afraid of a broken jaw. Forseeable future may mean a bowl game as well but at this point i just hope he can heal. These sorta contact sports could limit any future return with these type of injuries.

Harris is our best CB and I hate to lose him but Watkins is a very capable replacement and McShepard is just as good stepping into our nickel back role. No worries.
I had thought that Van Hoose was playing better than Harris this year, but that's just my uneducated opinion. Both are obviously playing at a very high level and Harris will be missed on the field. Hope he makes a full recovery for his sake.

I am deeply saddened by this. Matt Harris is a great player, but beyond his value to the team, as a human being and participant, injuries that keep you from playing just suck! As a hockey player and boxer I broke my nose three times and the right orbital bone on my face. I couldn't play with the orbital bone injury because they were worried about the optic nerves sliding into the break. Noses I just dealt with, but that sucked. I wish Matt the best of luck with his convalescence and a fast return. Go Matt!

Really sad - hope he recovers. Also hope he is able to keep up with classes. Big guy behind him going to the locker room with a 27 jersey was probably his dad, I'm sure he's heartbroken. There's nothing like following one of your injured kids off the field.

I'm guessing this isn't like the sort of thing in basketball where they can come back with the clear face mask?

I'm more concerned for Matt than I am for our bowl prospects. I hope he doesn't suffer any permanent injury or disfigurement.

Was he wearing his helmet properly?

I had a multiple facial fracture injury when I was 20. Broken orbit, cheek maxillar and mandible. After surjury 5 days after the injury. The prognosis was that the wires were to be removed in 6-8 weeks. 4 months later they were removed. I wish Matt well and a speedier recovery.

I haven't heard that he needs surgery. Sometimes a fracture is a crack that doesn't need to be reset. In those cases recovery is faster. Hope he is on the fast spectum for his sake

So sorry to hear about this. From a Michigan fan who was at the game & was worried when he was down so long on the field & not moving at first. Prayers for you, Matt & have a speedy recovery. Was impressed with your strong play b4 the injury.

Matt Harris is a joy to watch on the field. It was fun seeing him dancing on the field during timeouts. He seems to really enjoy the game. Hope he heals well and fast!

My son is a friend of his on campus, says he is a really nice kid too.
