Michigan @ Ohio St

OSU is probably going to blow them out. Too much working against Michigan.

That was a big FG for Michigan to quell a little of the OSU energy

In other games, Ga Tech 7-3 over Georgia after a quarter.

Michigan is hanging.

I loathe MichiGag and Hairball but they are good. Both teams banged up. Don't see OSU running away with it

Michigan doesn’t really have their two best players. They are screwed.

What a shame Michigan doesn’t have its two running backs. It would be interesting to see how it would have played out. OSU is about to pull away soon. Michigan has no offense without them.

Nice to have a super reliable FG kicker…I don’t think we can blame academic requirements, the portal or NIL for that deficiency.
Now OSU with a 47 yard FG. Funny how the decent programs can do that. We are afraid to kick 27 yard field goals.

Modern college football is largely about explosive plays. Michigan has air raid style stats. Ohio State, right back at them over the top.

THIS is real, high-level modern college football, right here.

Someone better tell JJ McCarthy.

Wow. Michigan o comes out strong and completes another long td pass taking advantage of the OSU d focused on stopping the run. This game is a BigTen classic so far.

This game is so flipped. OSU running the ball really well and Michigan making the big plays for TDs. Unbelievable.

If you told me beforehand that OSU was going to outrush Michigan by a lot, I would have thought this game was a total blowout.

I am surprised Michigan didn’t have that “snap it to the kicker and let him punt instead of try the field goal” play in their book there.

Credit to Harbaugh. Michigan is humming. Back to back CFP bids.

They have a better shot at Georgia this year probably as long as those 2 RBs are healthy by Jan.

If they let JJ McCarthy off the chain again like today, they can play with anybody. He and their receivers are dangerous and dynamic. They can pass to run on anybody.

Don't like Michigan, but it's sweet to see someone abuse and embarrass duhOSU on national TV.
I just appreciate that Jim Harbaugh seems to keep his actual offense on the shelf for literally the entire season until he busts it out to beat OSU

I agree but they'll need all of the offense working for Georgia. That Georgia defense still looks like a bear.

I think Ryan Day has turned Ohio State into a soft, finesse team. They can beat up on teams with lesser talent, but they're laid back in how they go about things and play down to competition. Thought there defense was improved this year, but their backfield got exposed by Michigan. On offense, they've moved away from the trend of utilizing quarterback mobility as a weapon, as Stroud rarely takes off which causes defenses not to be kept honest. I heard a commentator say Ryan Day will be fighting for his job next year, despite his stellar record, if he does not close against Michigan.

That was a clinic in coaching by the Michigan staff. I was so impressed with how they took what OSU gave them the whole game. Michigan didn't have much of a passing game all year and didn't really need it with Blake Corum being so effective. But with Corum out and OSU determined to stop the run, Michigan went up top with the passing game. They kept it close in the first half and then noticed how OSU adjusted to stop the big plays, leading to effective running again for Michigan. Just so impressive.

Congratulations to Michigan. That second half was an absolute ass kicking!

I’m bumping this thread as its more evidence that coaching matters. By any objective measure, OSU has more talent on its roster than Michigan - and every program except for a few other elite schools.

Yet Harbaugh has spanked Day now twice in a row after revamping his staff two years ago. It’s not because they’ve overwhelmed the Buckeyes in recruiting - they have maximized their own talent and exploited holes in OSU’s systems. Even if they lose to Purdoo, they’ll be in the playoffs. Harbaugh is crazy but damn he’s gotten results.

Ryan Day has done wonders for Harbaugh's career. Day is timid, for some reason, when it comes to Harbaugh. If Harbaugh has not gotten into his head, he soon will be living there rent free. Living in C-bus, it is remarkable listening to my friends quietly hoping that Day takes an NFL job. The John Cooper comparisons are inevitable. Stars matter, but coaching really matters, and most importantly, here in C-bus, beating TTUN (the team up north) matters.

The coach who is 11-1 has more heat on him because of losing to UMich 2 years in a row, compared to the coach who is 1-11 and also got painfully embarrassed by his instate rival 2 years in a row.

The Illinois game this year and last year were the most incompetent displays of Wildcat football I’ve seen in over 20 years.

Word is, Fitz is just waiting for Day to be fired so he can scoop him up! :D

Then, OSU will hire Fickell away from Wisconsin, which would be hilarious!! :p

I felt Michigan had an excellent chance to win this game. Corum being out was a big loss, but they still have a great o-line, and the No. 2 back at a place such as Michigan usually isn't too bad, which was demonstrated in the second half. Michigan's passing game was in a shell at times this season, but on the other hand when you're rushing for 400 yards against Penn State you don't have to throw the ball a helluva lot. Northwestern ran the ball for 200 yards on Ohio State on a lousy weather day when it was easy to see there wouldn't be many pass plays. It certainly figured that Michigan might be able to move the ball on them.

It’s interesting because for about 90% of that game, Michigan’s run offense was flopping and NU was out rushing OsU’s defense compared to Michigan. Then finally after loosening them up all day down field - even up two scores in the fourth quarter Michigan was still starting off drives chucking it downfield and getting connections or blame any PI calls since OsU couldn’t stop them at all - they bust off two massive explosion runs on simple downhill plays and iced things away.
