According to what ESPN said just now it looks very serious.

Man… this reminds me of Coach Walker a bit, although with that we all knew about his health issues the year prior.

This is more shocking as Leach was just jawing with the sideline reporters like his usual self a few weeks ago.

Health is so fragile - and this serves as another reminder that I’m overdue for my physical. T’s & P’s for his family & friends.

Mike Leach was one helluva coach and an offensive genius. He is the type of coach that NU needs to take the next step in the development of the program This ball control garbage needs to be thrown out ASAP!!!!

He had a radio gig after being let go by Texas Tech-he was entertaining and direct.

He had a handful of plays that he practiced repeatedly. He believed if he could perfect those plays, he didn't need a huge playbook

It was interesting to learn Hal Mumme, Sonny Dykes and Mike Leach were on the same staff at one time. The Air Raid was always fun to watch, and we will see how TCU does in the playoffs

Didn't agree with everything he did or said, but Coach Leach was definitely more entertaining to listen to than the overwhelming majority of other football coaches. Most interesting: his recent "proposals" to...
(1) Have a 64-team college football playoff
(2) End a school's season after 3 losses (since nothing supposedly matters except the playoffs)
(3) Give student-athletes a choice on whether they want to enter college as a Professional or Amateur. If they want to be a Professional, then they have more responsibility but will be treated like the pros in that they are subject to being drafted and traded.
(4) Give the amateur athletes a $100,000 bonus after they graduate as an incentive to promote earning their degrees, but if they transfer then they waive the right to the bonus.

The above is just a few of his ruminations...I couldn't tell if he was being serious or just sarcastically witty about how to adapt to the current college football landscape with the playoffs and NIL, but it does appear he was a long-time advocate of expanding the playoff to 64.

R.I.P Coach Leach

Some interesting ideas there. A couple of them are pretty good. He was definitely the most interesting college football coach of the past 20 years.
