Anyone else see this from the NU athletics Facebook page? Not sure what other games aired on cable though to measure against. Not bad considering the size of the schools

The only other cable game featuring two Power Five teams was Texas A&M-Arizona State, and that was going up against ND-Texas and Alabama-Wisconsin. Nonetheless, it's cool to be #1 on cable. NU always seems to rate well in big games and I'm not entirely sure why.

How did we compare with the regular channels? ND vs Texas on NBC and Nebraska vs BYU on ABC?

Wisconsin-Alabama, ABC: 8.0 million
Texas-Notre Dame, NBC: 4.1 million
BYU-Nebraska, ABC: ~3.5 million
Louisville-Auburn, CBS: ~4.5 million

Chicago and SF TV markets probably helped, though I think neither NU or Stanford are followed all that avidly in either market. The closest broadcast game was the BYU-Neb game, with both teams from sparcely populated parts.

Yeah -- in this case the game benefited from no broadcast opposition and being the only game that sounded attractive in the time slot. Following straight on from the first GameDay of the year didn't hurt, either.

Whatever reason people decided to tune in in the first place, we can all agree that it was ultimately very good that they did.
