Senator Napoleon Harris introduced the Raiders 3rd round draft pick. Looked very fit and poised.

Saw that. Love how he was introduced as a senator. Forgot about that - he'll always be a football player to me.

Does he identify at all with NU anymore? I remember once he was introduced before a big game and choose to tell what High School he went to instead of NU. I remember being really disappointed.

Don't be disappointed. It just means he identifies more strongly with where he came from. And it seems he has focused on that and representing people in his hometown. We can be nothing but proud of him. I always thought it was quite powerful for him to choose "Napaloean Harris from Thornton high" instead of NU. I mean he could have said NU with great pride and prestige, right? But he chose to identify with who he is and where he came from. So, I don't look at it as a slight against NU, but as a man who never forgot where he came from. imo.

Don't feel bad: Jared Allen always introduces himself as being from the Culinary Institute instead of Idaho State.

He actually said Dixmoor University before the Super Bowl, paying tribute to his hometown rather than Northwestern or Thornton. He's an absolute credit to NU, an example of a kid from a disadvantaged area truly taking advantage of opportunities that don't normally make it out that way. One of my all time favorites.

I was going to add a smart aleck response to the OP's initial post asking if there was some reference to his high school rather than university in conjunction with his role on the stage. However, I agree with those who have pointed out how much loyalty Harris has demonstrated post that at the time seeming snub. Sort of like how many have recovered from the initial displeasure at Barnett's departing email in light of his contributions to the program of recent.

One of my favorite shared NU moments (and candid photos to memorialize same that I was able to capture on a prior draft day): Napo with his mentor, and my classmate, Jerry Brown:
