13-5 in conference and 22-9 overall and still needs to win at least one if not two BT tourney games to get into the dance. No signature wins and only a handful of quality wins. Best road wins at Wisky and at NU. Benefitted from an incredibly favorable conference schedule and didn’t win any of their big matchups.

I don’t believe a 13-5 in conference record Big Ten team has ever missed the NCAA tourney. Am I wrong on that?

Unless they lose in the first round in the BTT, they will be dancing. Book it.

Yeah, it seems most experts think that one conference tourney win should get them in, but two is needed to solidify it.

Just crazy that a 13-5 conference team is on the bubble, but when you look at their resume, it definitely has some holes. 1-5 against the Top 50. 3-8 against the Top 100. A less than stellar record away from home, including no good road wins (best ones at NU and Wisconsin). Their best win is probably Maryland or PSU at home, both teams that are well on the outside looking in for a NCAA tourney birth. 22 wins, but not a single one against a team that is likely to be in the field (minus maybe a small team conference champion that ends up being a 14, 15, or 16 seed). Them not being in right now actually makes a lot of sense. To be clear, I'm not happy about it, just stating facts.

I truly think that if they lose their Big Ten tourney game on Friday, likely against Michigan, then they are out.

I would feel beyond cheated being excluded with that record. But it does say something about conference quality.

Agreed. If they beat Michigan they have a shot. Of course, if Michigan loses on Thursday, Nebraska will gain nothing from beating Iowa or Illinois.

Yeah, I'm with you, but it's really a perfect storm. They had the easiest conference schedule and didn't win any of their games against Purdue, MSU, and OSU. They did clobber Michigan in Lincoln for what is clearly their best win of the season (sorry, in my last post, I incorrectly stated that Maryland or PSU was their best win of the season when Michigan is clearly their best). They also had a relatively easy out of conference schedule, but lost their two potential "nice win" games to Creighton and Kansas (by one). They did beat BC, but they lost to UCF and got destroyed by St. Johns. They had limited opportunities to get good wins, and only cashed in on beating Michigan. They somehow pull out the Kansas game or even that overtime loss at PSU and I think they are in right now. But here we are...
